This one hits too close to home. I have lost at least a dozen tomatoes to those critters this season. I used to think they were soo cute… but now I’m the crazy person chasing them across the yard.

    Good morning, Crew!

NO! NO! It’s” Them there these one’s” just like our local news casters say. And forget the dog thing. My Lab helps the rabbits carry every thing to the fence. Then comes back and eats the left overs.

baiting them with store-bought junk just isn’t cricket…..it does, however, appear to be croquet…..

My dog doesn’t chase anything off. The chipmunks hang out about 3ft from her occupied doghouse, and she just lays there watching. When she barks at the deer they just look at her.

When I was a kid, our dog Maggie would pull all the green tomatoes off the vines herself. She’d play with them like they were tennis balls.

Here’s a sad story … my sister and I, found a hare in our backyard, with a broken leg. Mom told us we could keep it as a pet. We healed it, fed it, brushed and pet it. One day, we came home and (having grown bored of the hare, forgot abt it) I was 8, she was 11 at the time … we sat down for chicken dinner. It was VERY GOOD. A couple hours after dinner, sister went to feed the rabbit … she walked to the empty cage and screamed “WHERE’S BUGGSY?!?” Mom and step-dad shared ‘a look’, then said “that chicken we had for dinner? Wasn’t chicken.”

Sister ran to the washroom, while I sat back and went “hmmm! Delish!” Apparently, Buggsy had passed away from natural causes earlier in the day, so mom took him a couple doors down to be butchered up.

“These ones” is perfectly acceptable in vocal communication.

Assuming I ever actually get my garden revved up, my plan is to acquire a cat, employ a sandbox, and distribute the cat product around the garden, on the hypothesis (heh; almost made a little booboo there) that this will deter mooching critters. Does anyone have any experience along these lines?

    Allan: Man, that is sick.

Eating animals that died of “unknown causes” can certainly make your life more interesting. Shorter, but more interesting!
