You don’t need to when you can stand side on to a mirror and get a full frontal view of yourself.
If garf looked down at the reflection of the suns rays in the mirror then wouldn’t the light bend and create to create of sight in the mirror also creating a see able version of him allowing him to see his feet?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
