I think there’s a coloration issue here – the black marks make it look like Jon got burned by the toast. But I imagine the original intent was to show Jon blushing, because he is getting very warmed up by the toast and the proximity of Garfield’s huge feet.

Not to argue with cartoon physics, but I’m failing to see how that helps. I would thing he would be burning his foot now (along with Jon’s shoulder).
