I am afraid this may be another job above Obama’s pay grade. If so this country will continue to suffer. It clearly was way way over Bush’s.

Health care solutions suggestions? They have been posted so many places and ignored every time. HSAs, tort reform, tax deductions for individuals, ability to buy health insurance from any state like auto insurance, fewer mandates like acupuncture, etc etc

But they come from Republicans and are off the table.

In fact, the republicans have launched a plan of their own! It involves tying the croc’s mouth closed with a rope so President Obama can’t possibly get out! Clever!

Oh, gnw – any good republican plans been produced yet? Ask John Boehner. He keeps saying they’re polishing their plan for healthcare reform. 60 days and counting. When will their NONONONONO be replaced by a workable solution?

It won’t. As Grassley and now Orrin Hatch keep saying, they will not vote for reform no matter what the president gives away. This is reasonable bipartisanship to you.

Grassley et al, have made it very clear that they want the status quo to continue and of course, they still hope health care will be “Obama’s Waterloo.”

Health care costs will continue to drag this country down. How can we compete with countries which provide it for their workers? $1500 for each auto produced to provide insurance for the workers. Then there are the transporters, salespeople, the parts manufacturers, warehouse people, etc. that need insurance too all from that one car. My, My, how do we do it all? Of course it is the United Auto Worker’s fault for this. We spend over $3 trillion on heath care presently per year? The proposed plan(s) would cost $800 or $900 billion over a ten year period? It needs to be a public option period. Especially to keep manufacturing in this country. (or to bring it back)

justice22, I agree with your point exactly. Countries with public options do not have to put this financial burdens on their companies.

re tort reform — It will all depend upon the details. The following is about United Healthcare being sued by AMA for a form of fraud, United denied, but has now settled for $450 million.

Health care fraud accounts for as much as 10% of overall health spending and is occurring just as frequently among private insurance plans as public programs, according to a recent report.

The June study out of the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., emerges as the Obama administration is becoming more vocal about cracking down on health care fraud as a priority in reforming the health care system.

Researchers pointed to a January settlement by UnitedHealth Group, totaling $450 million, over allegations that the insurance firm manipulated out-of-network prices for physician services, resulting in an estimated 10% to 28% increase in costs. The Litigation Center of the American Medical Association and State Medical Societies, along with other physician organizations, had sued United, which denied any wrongdoing.

Researchers also cited several multimillion-dollar settlements by pharmaceutical companies and large hospital systems for alleged false billing of Medicare and Medicaid.

The national debt is a very small fragment of our GNP, and with competent leadership as demonstrated by the current President we can work our way through it, except for the extreme deregulation, fear-mongering and economic woes created by the ultra-right.

COMPETENT LEADERSHIP??? These boobs can’t even coordinate a Presidential motorcade across a Potomac bridge during a routine Coast Guard training exercise without causing a media frenzy of false reporting! Take your blinders off. We’ve got a Marxist con-man spending us into oblivion!

bikemaster, are you insane? I really hadn’t thought to blame the president for CNN mistaking a Coast Guard excercise for a terrorist attack.

Wow. I am really getting amused at what will be blamed on the president. Seriously, Bush must be made of Teflon. Nothing was ever ever his fault, but our current president? Just look at trainingwheelsbikemaster upthread!!

Let’s start a contest. Take a news development of the day and, while skirting completely those who actually were involved, blame it on the president. It will be better if you can use words like boobs, “causing a media frenzy”, and oblivion.

I love it. Just imagine: President Obama is planning a trip in his car across the potomac river. He’s going to a 9/11 ceremony. Halfway across the bridge, he sez (or something) Hey! Look! Big orange boats! Let’s call CNN and tell them so I can get my picture on TV!”

I mean, really, bikey. You stay classy!

Yes, ezdeb, I am proud to say, I’m insane. You seem to have already forgotten that “W” was blamed for EVERYTHING during his 8-year reign, and he is STILL being blamed for everything that’s wrong or broken. Let us know how your contest is going!

Well yes, quite frankly, I believe “W” is responsible for that pain in my…..uh….but seriously, folks, Clinton DID leave a bad taste in our collective mouths (pun intended) and “W” has single-handedly destroyed the Repub. Party. The pathetic McCain only added to the destruction. Why do you think I’m in this institution, EZZY? LATE-BREAKING NEWS! California wild-fires believed to have been started by Prez. Obama to underscore need for health care reform!
