I hope you are proud of yourself for drawing a cartoon that will unquestionably be reprinted on anti-semitic, radical islamic and white supremacist websites for years to come. The best that can be said about it is that it is inflammatory and biassed. the truth is, it is just plain antisemitic.

As a political cartoon, it’s excellent. It meets all the requirements for creating symbols and communicating a message. It’s one more nail of delegitimization. Of course, we’ll ignore the Hammas goal of eliminating Israel; we’ll just expect Israel to fade quietly into history. Bpaulwhite is right: this will become a new classic of anti-Semitism cartooning and will be joyfully reproduced. Why couldn’t the Germans have been more efficient?

Packer, you made a good point regarding the elements of a political cartoon. However, this one seems to be overkill with so-called “symbolism”. I don’t get many of the aspects of what Oliphant is trying to depict, except for showing Israel as a monstrous country…oh, and let’s not forget the religious aspect with the Star of David…country/religion…Hmmm…who took out the World Trade Center and innocent people in Mumbai and so on and so on….Must be a country that eludes me…or is it fanatical zealots that love to be incited by a “cartoon” like this one. Sorry, I don’t get it!

Perhaps the pendulum of American opinion is now swinging against the Israeli far right. I was and am sympathetic with Israel in that no country can or should tolerate being rocketed on a daily basis. However, the pressure cooker that is Gaza is entirely the result of Israel’s past polices. The charge of Antisemitism and the shared collective guilt for the Holocaust just does not have the same relevance to me anymore.

Even cartoonists can be brainwashed by the media. Let’s see 20% of the world is Muslim, .01% is Jewish. The news media makes the most $ pandering to whom? Grow up and open your eyes. When you are surrounded 100:1 by those trying to kill you daily, you will do whatever it takes to survive. Remember England killed 40,000 civilians in 2 days in the bombing Dreseden 12 days before the Nazi surrender. War is war. Grow up. Don’t expect Israel to eat daily bombing and do nothing. The “occupation”; that the Arabs speak of is the existence of Israel. The Jews have been the predominant group in Israel for 3,000 years. The Arabs have never controlled it. You can’t give something back to someone who never had it. The powder keg in Gaza is the direct result of Egypt’s refusal to accept Gaza as Egypt for fear of the Muslim Brotherhood’s control. Israel never wanted Gaza or the West Bank, but neither did Egypt or Jordan. Jordan slaughtered 100,000 Palestinians for fear of an uprising prior to the ‘67 war. We never heard any outrage from that. It is ok if Muslims kill Muslims.

If I held up delivery of food, prevented my neighbor from selling his produce until it was rotten, and restricted his movement on his own property, we would not have peace between us. The Jews are a wonderfully inventive people. They must find a better way to make peace with their neighbors than by dropping cluster bombs in their neighborhoods.

JF88, this is not cursing Abraham either. Oliphant is expressing his disgust with Israel’s actions over against Gaza – agree or disagree, it’s not evil.

Let’s try this again… Close your eyes and imagine a group, connected to the Mexican government or not, firing rockets from Juarez Mexico into El Paso Texas. After a day or two even a nice guy like Mr. Obama is going to have to do something. He warns them but they say they are willing to die and are not afraid of the big bully. Days go by and rockets are falling all over that part of Texas forcing people to sleep in bomb shelters. After another few days Mr Obama says he has had enough and says he will have to send his troops in if it doesn’t stop. The rockets increase and they say they have no intention of stopping and it’s America’s fault. When the troops and jets finally move in and are met with fierce resistance, how many innocent Mexicans would die? A thousand? In the first 10 minutes. The panicked people would then rush to the US border to get away from the craziness but guess what? The border would be sealed! By the way the rockets are still falling on Israel but that doesn’t seem to matter. Only Israeli bombs are worth mentioning.

Israel had thousands of rockets shot at it for years with diplomatic efforts and threats yielding no results. The Israeli army expended an unprecedented effort to avoid civilian casualties according to Richard Kemp, BBC military analyst. This cartoon comparing Israelis to Nazis is obscene. It hurts Jews to compare them to a group that systematically tried to destroy them, and delegitmizes the Israeli government.

Also, from what source did the figure of Jews being 0.04% of the world’s population come? The Israelis harrass and attack the Palestinians on a daily 24/7 basis. Id consider that even worse than the poor people living in the desert that get a rocket slung at their cows. Have you ever watched Palestinian fisherman being harrassed by Israeli navy gunboats being shot at with high caliber machine guns off their bows or being smashed against the bulk heads by high pressure water cannons while they scream and cry that they are only fishermen? No of course you wont mention that because it doesnt suit your purposes. Go and do a google search for Gaza water cannons under videos. The Israelis not only harrass them thy also want to slowly starve and kill them off slowly. Who is trying to kill who? The world is tired of your Hasbara and now its brought to America since we have been blind enough to support the state of Israel with its lies. Thankfully Americans are finally seeing the true story of who and what is bringing unrest in the middle east.

While I, a wholly unrepentant pantheist, would dearly love to believe that there’s some remarkably just and infinitely wise potentate residing in the hidden folds of multi-dimensional space-time who regards the latest shenanigans of Israel as a blasphemy upon His laws and a mockery of everything He holds dear, I nonetheless fear I must resign myself to merely being wholeheartedly disgusted and thoroughly saddened by what amounts to yet another tiresome example of humanity acting on no higher level than swarms of bacteria or colonies of fungus ceaselessly struggling to wrest control of additional patches of territory atop a smoldering pile of festering refuse; and while there are indeed many deluded simpletons among us who may willfully believe in the existence of wondrously magical books whose hallowed words tell of great and powerful wizards who harbor grand designs for those fortunate races whom He favors and diabolical tortures for those whom He relentlessly abhors, it is simply a doleful fact for those who happen to see reality in less medievally-tinged colors that those Jews who refuse to acknowledge the swinish brutality and despotic ruthlessness with which their adapted state carried out their splendidly effective little “operation” to terrorize and intimidate a subject population driven to the heights of desperation by the hopelessness of their collective situation under the weight of transparently colonialistic policies are, despite their vociferous and self-aggrandizing insistence to the contrary, simply Jews who are not very distinguishable from the general run of humanity which, as but a momentary glance at any daily newspaper will inform you, are often no more than semi-refined baboons at best and outright blood-swilling demons at worst. The only matter I may happen to disagree with Oliphant upon in this instance is that he seems to imply that Israel, by pursuing its blindly militaristic policies, is bound to topple into the same abyss it is now chasing the hapless Gazans into; I harbor no such sentimental or moralistic bias: wholesale slaughter of enemy populations has always been a profoundly useful and eminently respectable element of statecraft since the very dawn of “civilization”. Don’t believe me? Ask a certified expert in the field like Henry Kissinger or Donald Rumsfeld - they’ll be more than happy to set you straight - or kill you - dependent, of course, upon just how useful you may be to them at any particular moment…

Typical anti-semitism. What terrorists most want us to see are the burning bodies of the victims of their own terror while blaming it on Israel. The terrorists living in Gaza and the West Bank hide behind women and children while launching rockets at innocent Israelis and then blame the Israeli gov’t for retaliating. Typical of someone uniformed or who is anti-semitic. Another score for the terrorists.

There are those who consider criticism of Zionism, that is those who seek a ‘greater Israel’ including the expulsion of the Palestinian people, as anti-semitism. They are not in the rational mainstream, and are generally both Christian and Jewish fundamentalist hard-liners- my way or the highway absolutists. Mearsheimer and Walt, the authors of “The Israel Lobby,” have shown that it is possible to criticize Israeli policy without being anti-semitic. Perhaps Mr. Oliphant could have used another symbol in his editorial cartoon, but it is not anti-semitic. Visual impact is important in his media, and he gets the point across effectively. The new Israeli leaders (and those who put them in office) have clearly forgotten the lessons of the Holocaust. Sometimes the truth is a bitter pill to swallow.

    Folks, do a history lesson.

Israel ‘declared’ it’s statehood in 1948. They took the homes, businesses and lands from people who have lived there for generations upon generations. The approximately 84,000 Jews who lived in Palestine before the British Mandate of Palestine of 1922 lived in peace with their arab neighbors. They only represented 11% of the population. In fact, there were nearly as many Christians living in Palestine (10%) during this same period. By 1945, the Jewish population has grown to about 30% due primarily to illegal immigration. Only 3% of the land was owned by Jews and much of that obtained illegally.

Imagine if you will, a minority population in the land raises up and takes your homes, your fields and your way of life from you which your family have had since at least the 16th century, likely long before. They declare your country their own and impose their laws and way of life on your family. What would you do? What would you do if it was Virginia or California. Think of your own state, your own home you built with your hard work.

Now, I have been a supported of Israel for some time knowing only part of the story. We have been lied to in the west. We get told only a small part of the story. Israel carpet bombed residential neighborhoods in Gaza with white phosphorus, not once (which would be horrible in itself), but over and over again. They systematically leveled the Gaza strip. Killing and destroying everything in their path including women and children. Why? To crush the few left who resist the people who took their land and their lives.

May God bless the suffering people of Gaza.

But no…They want all of Israel. Period. If you support this, then we in the US will need to give back the US to the American Indians.

paulstendal, I am sure none of them have mothers or children.

Ask yourself a simple question. Who has kill more civilians in the last 90 years of conflict in Palestine? The Jews or the Palestinians?

Israel just carpet bombed the Gaza strip with white phosphorous, burning women and children, many to nothing but charred remains. The place is leveled. In 22 days Israel killed 1,434 Palestinians, 960 of those civilians and many of them women and children.

These are people with names. They are mothers and fathers who love their children just as we do. They are a people trying to survive in a cage with hell being poured down on top of them. ..and yes they resist.

Again, what if this was YOUR town surrounded by a wall. Nowhere to run. Nowhere safe for you and YOUR family and they started raining fire from the sky down on YOUR children. On YOUR wife. YOUR home.

It is past time for we as Americans to stop looking through the rose colored glass provided for us by OUR government through media. It is time to wake up and start seeing what OUR decisions are doing to the lives of people around the world.

Oh yeah, do you know where those white phosphorus weapons were produced? Pine Bluff Arkansas.

Okay 4liberty. Yes there are mothers and children. There are also husbands and sons who can make choices about their leadership. Imbedded in the Israelite psyche is the knowledge that there already has been an attempt to annihilate them when 6 million, many mothers & children, were systematically exterminated when they were dispersed after 70 A.D. It is not a British or American made phenomenon that they have returned to once was their homeland to seek security and identity as a nation. It was God-ordained as prophesied and recorded in the writings of Isaiah and Ezekiel, both historical figures backed by ancient manuscripts reliable in the eyes of modern day archeology.

To JackNapier : Britain was not the creator of Israel - it was the UNITED NATIONS, which tried a two-state answer in 1946/7 but the Arab nations INVADED the land apportioned to Israel! That is why the two-state solution being talked about will not work - the Arabs refuse to accept the right of Israel to exist and have been fighting ever since 1945 to eliminate the Jewish AND Christian presence in Israel! Note that the large Arab Christian population of Bethlehem has been DRIVEN OUT by HAMAS - from 100,000 in 1967 there are now less than 1,500!!!!

Had Britain never colonised it, they would have never been able to offer up the land. It would be like if America invaded Mexico, and then gave it to the Native Americans while forcing the Mexicans into concentrated “camps” like Israel did with Palestine after the Arab-Israeli war.

OMFG I LOVE THIS! Seriously, Israel has over stepped on every single level. In fact its to the point where the only way for peace over there is to remove israel completly and redistribute the jews across the world as was done before. we all know this. It doesnt take a dummy to understand this. No religouse group should ever be entitled to its own country. that is when holy wars start. and i duno about you people, but ive had enough of this bleeep from Israel

After reading all the material generated by this one cartoon, it strikes me that Anti Semitism does have one redeeming point. It sure keeps people aware of what’s happening in the middle east.People hang on every detail of what is unquestionably the worst human tragedy in history, at minimum (according to the comments sent to this site) Sadly the information they are getting is so slanted that even some Muslims are starting to call for some semblance of reality in the reporting. It must take hours to edit the reports to take out any bit of info that could possibly reflect badly on the Palestinians or any other Arab group. For example…there are two border crossing points from Gaza, one into Israel and one into Egypt. The Israeli point was open even during the war. The Egyptian point was closed solidly.Your news source whatever it is probably “forgot” to point it out. As well, the conflict in the middle east seems to take up all the world’s time and attention with the result that the real problem ares are ignored. We know where the phosphorus is made but could we find the Congo on a map? The war there kills more people on a quiet Sunday than have been killed in Palestine in years. Can you remember any in depth reporting from the scene as 400,000 were slaughtered in the Sudan? No time for that we have to concentrate on the length of time it takes to cross the border in to Israel. Maybe it’s time to start to pay attention to the other 99.5% of the world’s population. Many of them are suffering in conditions far worse than those in Palestine. Don’t worry though you, can blame those problems on the Jews as well

baravelli, you ask “what if” the rockets were coming over from Mexico. By framing the question like this you hope that people will think “we’d sure as hell shoot back” and thereby be tricked into identifying with the Israeli killing in Gaza. Actually the situation is a bit different. Imagine that, 60 years ago, a bunch of colonialist americans invaded mexico, forced out most of the population at gunpoint and herded those that remain into ghettos. They then settled Mexico and remained unwilling to give up even a small fraction of the land to create a state for the what-were-Mexicans to have as their own. In fact, the bit of land that the international community would like to see given over for this purpose is continually, and aggressively, settled by the colonists. After decades of persecution and despair some of the what-were-Mexicans continue to attempt a militarily futile resistance, rather than accept their utter humiliation and destitution. Is it still so easy to justify sending in the F16s to drop white phosphorus on their schools?

WillBerry, I am afraid you are incorrect. If you are referring to the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine, it was rejected by both the Jewish population and the Arab. Israel declared their independence 14 May 1948 the day the British Mandate expired. It was not the UN (nor does the UN have such authority) which declared Israel a state. But the leadership of the Zionist Movement.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declarationof_Independence(Israel)

As a result of the Jewish population declaring itself the lands Sovereign, the Palestinian population revolted. Immediately Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria joined this revolt resulting in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. When the war was over in 1949, Israel expanded it’s boarders by 50%.

I restate, before this action Jews, Christians and Muslims lived in this same land side by side in peace since the 16th century. Jews have lived in Israel next to Muslims since 638 when Arab Muslims invited them back after they were expelled by the Romans. Once again they lived in relative peace with their Arab Muslim neighbors.

Arab nations continue not to recognize Israel as a state as they believe the land has been taken from the people of Palestine. This is actually a matter of historic fact and continues to happen today. Arabs did not cause what happen to Jews in Europe, and it is completely off topic. However, with what happened to the Jewish people in Europe they should be defining the standard for human rights, protecting the innocent and creating a place where people are free to worship and speak to others about their faith openly.

So, back to the point: Mr. Oliphant’s Cartoon. I believe it is tame compared to the atrocities committed by Israel in not only their siege of the Gaza Strip, but in their 22 day slaughter of the people of Gaza. Mr. Oliphant, thank you for being bold enough to depict truth and not be curbed by the pressure imposed by the media machine in the west.

Oh, and for the record, I am conservative Christian, a US citizen and prior service US Military. I have no distain for the Jewish people and I recognize their chosen place by God both currently and historically. This is true also for the Arab people. They are both people chosen by God for very different purposes. This providence does not give them the right to commit atrocities. In fact, it calls them to a higher moral standard of which the fall very short.

This is a POLITICAL cartoon, that means it is political - will it offend some - yes, probably, and too bad. Deal with it and hope there will one day be a solution in the Middle East and Israel.

First, many of you need to look up the definition of anti-semitism.

Second,Dredpiraterobts, before you proclaim Israel’s divine right for having been there for “3000 years” you might want to read a little history. Might I suggest “The Wrath of Jonah: The Crisis of Religous Nationalism in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.” If you read the first ten pages of the first chapter it will gige you a brief and unbiased overview of exactly who has ruled that area and when since 2800 B.C.E.

Third, all this discussion about rockets out of Gaza, I just have five more words to say: Israelis; bulldozers; houses; olive trees.

What? He draws a political cartoon critical of Israel policy on Gaza and now he’s evil? “God has his eye on him”? I better not disagree with Israel or I’ll be labeled evil or anti-semitic! All he wants is for people to think about it. If he feels Israel is over reacting. Nothing anti-semitic about it. It’s political and calls certain actions of a country into question. God this, God that… I mean, what makes you think you speak for God? What makes you so special that you can hand down God’s judgment. You’re not worthy. The Holocaust does not make today’s Israel immune to critical political cartoons. Just like EVERYONE else! Cry anti-semitism all you want, doesn’t make it so. If anything he is anti government policy on Gaza. Give me a freaking break!

Oliphant’s thinly cloaked antisemitism is on display here. Comparing what happened in Gaza to what happened under the Nazis is totally beyond the Pale.

Where are the: death camps, ovens, mass graves, gas chambers? Israel tried hard to avoid civilian casualties, even while Hamas used its citizens as human shields. Did the Nazis try hard to avoid killing innocent Jews?

What was Israel supposed to do? Just sit there under Hamas rocket fire forever?

Casting Israel as Nazis is a prime indicator of antisemitism. They call it “anti-Zionism” but that’s just the mask that they hope will hide the ugly reality.

Israel has withstood over 6,000 rocket attacks before it went into Gaza to eliminate the rocket launchers. Mind you, the people of Gaza voted into power their rocket launchers. There was nary a complaint in the entire world while these rockets were launched. Of course, when Israel was forced into action, it was condemned. What damnable hypocrisy it is could only be explained by the Jew-hatred behind it.

Phosphorus bombs dropped on civilians! Israeli soldiers testifying that they intentionally targeted civilians! The massive death toll, mostly civilians! The Israeli onslaught into Gaza was an exercise in unnecessary brutality, and that’s what this cartoon is saying. Since the flag of Israel features a large Star of David squarely in the middle, it hardly goes beyond the pale to use the Star of David as a symbol of the Israeli state – and in this case, a symbol of Israeli state brutality.

Criticism of Israeli policy, especially policies of brutality, is not anti-Semitic!

On January 18 of this year, several newspapers around the country published a syndicated cartoon by Stantis depicting the Palestinian group, Hamas, as a rodent caught in an Israeli trap and held aloft by a burly Israeli soldier. If anything is reminiscent of the Nazi era, this was (since the Nazis often depicted Jews as vermin). But it evoked no protests from the Anti-defamation League or the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Their concerns with anti-defamation, it seems, are hardly universal.

    Phosphorus bombs dropped on civilians!

Lie! Legal white phosphorous artillery shells were used for screening and marking.

Israeli soldiers testifying that they intentionally targeted civilians!

Lie! An investigation demonstrated that these were all second and third hand stories that in fact, did not happen.

The massive death toll, mostly civilians!

Lie! According to the data gathered by the Research Department of the Israel Defense Intelligence, there were 1166 names of Palestinians killed during Operation Cast Lead. 709 of them are identified as Hamas error operatives, amongst them several from various other terror organizations. Additionally, there are 162 names of men that have not been yet attributed to any organization. Furthermore, it has come to our understanding that 295 uninvolved Palestinians were killed during the operation, 89 of them under the age of 16, and 49 of them were women.

And, Hamas is certified terrorist organization that deserves to be exterminated like the vermin that they are.

If you lie, you’re a liar. If you lie about Jews, you’re an anti-Semitic liar which is exactly what Oliphant is.

This is the most blatent generalism of anti-semitism to the highest level made popular all over the world as it can be viewed over the Internet. Israel showed much restraint for a very long time while being attacked. Now if what has happened in Gaza is right or wrong, the Nazi type figure is hideous, his head is gone for whatever reason the cartoonist decided like shame (but we many would say it was blown off by extremists). The Star of David makes low lives either uneducated or highly educated believe that ALL Jews agree with the actions, and that Israel represents all Jews. The Hamas is a representation of all of Islam? I do not think so. Shall we hate all who believe in Allah as well as all Jews? The huge Star, the militant figure are both hideous and are well able to egg on more hatred. PAT - BAD JOB.

And thus the evidence of the NY Times predilection to be anti-Semitic/anti-Israel becomes crystal clear. I have frequently written letters to the NYT asking why every article concerning Israel has an anti-Israeli slant. Not one, not some, ALL. This makes it abundantly clear. The NY Times views Israel as a bunch of jack-booted, goose-stepping Nazis trying to crush the poor Palestinians, who are just trying to nurse their poor baby in the Gaza Strip. Please. Nothing could be further from the truth, but the NY Times is not interested in the truth. It is only interested in promoting a pro-Arab/pro-Muslim agenda. I am certain now that this company has been corrupted by Arab petro-dollars, since they are not earning any money anywhere else. This cartoon is a vicious continuation of a nasty, false blood-libel promoted by anti-semites for centuries. Jews killing babies. And just in time for Passover. It was this very blood libel which spurred Crusaders in the middle ages to kill innocent Jews for making matzoh with the blood of Christian babies.

When I look at this piece I think it means that Jewish sympathy over the Holocaust has given Israel power to push oppression and to have lost its head/reason with regard to killing innocent women and children in Gaza. There is not enough attention on this subject. In the news we only hear that Israel is defending itself but there is not enough discussions about how they feel about killing innocent people who are trapped in Gaza –only that they have a right to protect themselves! That message sounds righteous even if it is not intended. Naturally Oliphant is trying to offend because he wants more attention to be given to this issue.

How many times do you see offensive cartoons about Catholics, gays, minorities or government? Should the Pope start calling the NY Times I wonder to complain?

This is a shocking cartoon. First, because it is in the style of the worst Nazi propaganda. And second, because it is based on false information. One who did not know the source would guess that it came from one of those Nazi skin-head Internet sites.

In fact, Israeli investigators have found that of the roughly 1,300 residents of Gaza killed in the Cast Lead operation, more than 600 were terrorists, and 309 were civilians. Approximately 100 have not been identified at all, and 320 are adult men whose names are known but whose affiliation remains unclear.

“I’m overcome by a feeling of pride because we have a moral army that adheres to international law,” Galant said at a ceremony honoring Southern Command troops. “This ratio of less than one-quarter of the individuals killed uninvolved in fighting is an achievement unmatched in the history of this kind of combat, not only in Israel but in the entire world.”

“Anti-semitism”: The Jewish people have built a persona and even more a State by self proclaiming the world’s hatred for them. It is time for this little nation to stand for who it is today and their action of today. The assumption that the world has to accept what ever the Jewish people do or accept what ever they say as truth or one is “Anti-semitic” is absurd. As I stated before, I have no specific dislike for the Jewish people. In fact, among my closest friends are Jews. However, I also have close friends who are Russian and I do not feel the need to support everything Russia does or has done.

Regarding the comments by sabaira and WilliamBrown, why would we accept the information provided by those suspected of perpetrating the crime? What are they going to say, “Yep, we killed a bunch of babies!” Of wait, that is exactly what Israeli soldiers were saying on their t-shirts when they returned!

However, if you are willing to consider there is some truth in their numbers, how could they know that 709 of the people they killed where terror operatives? Come on people. It is time for Israel to take some accountability for what they have done. What was the result of their operation other than adding additional suffering to a people whose land they have taken and lives they have destroyed? Is there now peace? Is anyones life better?

WilliamBrown, you sound like your part of their propaganda machine. ;) “Lie! Legal white phosphorous artillery shells were used for screening and marking.” Why were they marking residential neighborhoods full of civilians? Why were they marking women and children? Legal? Who’s law? Give us all a break. We can read the propaganda war being waged by Israel all over the net. You do not need to copy and paste it here.

Have you ever seen the damage done to a human body by white phosphorous? I have seen it first hand and it is devastating. As I stated before, what if they were “marking” your house? What if they were “screening” your wife and children.

Israel did their best to create a media blackout. In the west they were mainly successful by preventing any western media from entering the Gaza Strip during the conflict. However, thee were many already there. The western media will not show you the images. They say they are too harsh for western TV. But if you are looking and if you care, they can be found with little effort.

The brew-ha-ha over this cartoon clearly reveals the insecurity amongst our Jewish friends regarding Israel’s wanton Hitler-isk stomping away of people in Gaza. There are a number of parallelisms between Israel and Hitler’s Germany. For example the firing of white phosphorus in Gaza by the Israelis could be equated as a more efficient form of burning of innocents in ovens. Anyways, having fully read the thread, I defer to 4Liberty’s insightful and better versed commentary above on this cartoon/greater subject.

What might be even more shocking than this, poorly drawn chicken scratch portraying the complete inverse of the truth, is that the NY Times printed this trash. I was wondering when 4Liberty was going to say “some of my best friends are Jews.” This is the clear remark of an anti-Semite. He knows he his saying things out of his hatred of Jews in general, so he has to have “Jewish friends,” which somehow excuses his obvious hatred of Jews. This is just like the comment of a racist person who calls some African-Americans by the “N” word and then says but not all African Americans are “Ns,’” some of my best friends are African Americans. Yeah, sure.

If one really looks at the history of the middle east, you cannot say that the Arabs of the region did not play a part in the Holocaust. They did!. They were complicit with the Nazis in coming up with the “final solution.” They objected to the Jews coming into the Holy Land, when it was under the British Mandate and so Jews who would have been rescued from German killing camps died, instead.

It is a lie that the UN did not declare Israel a state. It definitely did so.

It is a lie to say that Jews stole Arab’s land. The majority was bought by Jews from Arabs at many times the fair market price.

The Jews did not kick any Arab out of the State of Israel. It is a damned lie to say they did. When Israel was formed in 1948, the pan-Arab League, formed with the assistance of the British, urged their people to leave the Jewish areas, because they planned to annihilate anyone living in the region. After the Jews were driven into the sea and “Hitler’s work was finished,” then they said, the Arabs could go back to their homes.

It is because they pan-Arab league, with their mighty armies, did not destroy Israel that time (or any of the multiple times they have tried to do so) that there are any Arab refugees. Why are there any Arab refugees? Because the Arab nations do not want the people who were living in the Israeli territory.

It is ok when Muslims kill Muslims. Witness actions by the Syrians against the “Palestinians;” actions by the Hashemites of Jordan against them, actions by the Egyptians and actions by the Lebanese. Everyone of these Arab nations has killed tens of thousands of “Palestinians,” but not one word of outrage has been expressed against them.

By the way, there was no such word in the international vocabulary as “Palestinian,” until after the Arabs attacked Israel in the June 6 Day War of 1967.

Did Israel conquer some territory? Yes, they recaptured the biblical homelands of the Jews, Judea and Samaria. Are there Arab living there? Yes, there are. Are there Israeli settlements? Yes, there are. Who says they are illegal? Arabs and the Arabists in the UN, who are constantly trying to destroy Israel.

Look at Jerusalem. The Arabs insist on taking back parts of Jerusalem. Their prophet was never there. Their “holy” book never mentions the city. They built their Dome of the Rock over the Jewish Temple site to humiliate the Jews. When Jordan controlled east Jerusalem, Jews could not go to their holy places. Now, under Jewish control, Muslims can worship where they want, Jews and Christians can worship where they want. Jerusalem was established by David as Israel’s capital. It is back in Israeli hands. It should not be divided again. Only arabs and people with an anti-Israel slant argue it should be split up again. Should New York give Manhattan back to the Indians?

The Arabs living in Israel are citizens, with the right to vote and their own political parties and representatives in the Knesset. Tell me one Arabic nation that allows Jews to live in their country, let alone have synagogues, vote, have political parties and elect legislators to the national government. I’ll tell you why you cannot give an answer to this question, because not one Arabic country will allow it!!

Israel has the most moral army in the world. Even though the terrorist Hamas fought Israel from within urban settings, fewer than 1/4 of the casualties in the last fighting were non-combatants.

Israel warned every house in areas that they were going to attack, “get out, get away from the terrorists, as we are coming in.” The white smoke weapons used are in every western nation’s arsenal. They are allowed under the Geneva conventions.

Hamas published lies about what was going on, the UN, in lock-step with the Arabs and Arabists, repeated those lies. Now the truth has come out about those lies. Who is still repeating the lies of the terrorists? The anti-Semites. Frankly, I am sick of it.

Always, regardless of the circumstances, it is always easiest to blame the Jews.

Wonderfully insensitive, disgustingly hyperbolic use of an insulting juxtaposition: A knee-jerk modern analogy, popularized by Jew-haters everywhere, of Israel as Nazis. Tell me Pat, how many times did the Nazis call Jews at home during 1932-1945 to tell them to get out of their neighborhood because it’s going to be invaded or bombed? How many Jews do you think will riot over this hideously insensitive and insulting indictment of an ENTIRE people–NOT a country, but Jews: half of whom live nowhere NEAR the middle east? NONE–that’s how many. Congrats on sinking below the bottom. Typical of the New York Times editorial slant! Be ashamed, be VERY ashamed!

Why is the Jewish “Star of David” trying to “eat” poor Gaza? Israel left Gaza to the PA in 2005, without condition. Who is running Gaza? Hamas. Who has used the Gaza Strip as a launching point for over 8,000 terrorist bombings, missile attacks into civilian areas? The PA and then Hamas. Who kidnapped an Israeli kid to hold him for ransom? Who is insisting that hundreds of convicted murderers be released from jail in exchange for a single boy, who was kidnapped as a teenager? Israel won’t open the border for Gaza? Why doesn’t Egypt open its Gaza border? Because it does not want the Islamic fascists running the place to come into Egypt and foment insurrection in their country. Do you blame them? When an Arab is hurt in the fighting, who takes them in and treats them without regard for cost? Jews in Israel do. Who uses houses of worship and hospitals and ambulances to disguise weapons in transit and weapons depots? Hamas and the PLO. Who issues bombs from near UN facilities and then lies that dozens of civilians were killed in the counter-attack? Hamas. Who repeats the lies of Hamas without verification, only to have to retract the same, when the truth must be told? The UN. Who broke the “cease fire” in December 2008? Hamas did. Who begged the people inside Gaza to stop the shooting of missiles into civilian areas? Israel did. Who exhausted diplomatic efforts through the UN and other third parties to try to stop the attacks prior to having to respond to defend their own civilians? Israel did. Which fighters fought without uniforms and hid behind women and children and in civilian homes and mosques and hospitals? Hamas. Which fighters warned the civilians that the fight was coming into their neighborhoods so they could leave and escape from the terrorists when the fighting began? Israel.

Israel is comprised of Jews from all over the world, but most originate from Arab countries. The most effective ethnic cleansing ever done was of Jewish communities in Bahgdad, Cairo, and Damascus. The “ghettos” of the Palestinians were established by Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon, who use the Palestinian issue to fight Israel. If the Palestinians want a country, they need to renounce terrorism, recognize Israel, and rid their media of anti-Semitism.

This cartoon implies that Jews are Nazis, rubbing in the pin we feel from the crimes of the Holocaust. It further implies that the Jews have no right to their own country, since they are Nazis. The truth is that Israel attacked Hamas after years of rocket attacks, failed ceasefires, and failed limited retaliations. Where is Oliphant when southern Israel is facing daily rocket attacks? Read the Hamas charter to understand their goals-they want to kill all the Jews.

Oliphant and Universal owe Jews everywhere an apology. I cannot believe that they are selling collectible prints of this garbage.

bones327, if you look at the whole of the thread, I provided you citation to the actual self declaration of Israel as a state. I encourage you to read it. . It was the “The Zionist Organization” which made the declaration. Again, the UN (which was only 1 year old) had no (and still has no) authority to declare a state. For example, the US declared their independence. There is nothing wrong with this action, in fact that is how one becomes a state. However, it is historically incorrect to state the UN is the one to make the declaration. The UN may recognize a state, but declaring it a state is beyond it’s mandate.

I am assuming your Jewish. If you are, I encourage you to quite crying and whining about how everyone hates the Jewish people and start taking accountability for your actions. You will find many of us who have a heat for the Jewish people will be much quicker to defend you.

Actually I am a student of middle eastern history and have spent many years traveling the region. Your attempt to rewrite history is just short of ridiculous. Your opinion is very emotional, however it is not factual. There has been accurate information about the population and property ownership of the region since the end of WW1, and it is a known fact many transactions which took place were at best illegal.

bones327, as you have obviously never read the British Mandate, I will help you out here. I encourage you to read it before commenting further as it may clear some things up for you. Article 7 of the British Mandate, “The Administration of Palestine shall be responsible for enacting a nationality law. There shall be included in this law provisions framed so as to facilitate the acquisition of Palestinian citizenship by Jews who take up their permanent residence in Palestine.” April 24, 1920 Hmn… 40 years before you say the word Palestinian was ever used and long before Hitler came to power.

“White smoke weapons” Wow, that is easier to accept than white phosphorus used to destroy homes and maim people. Once again, have you ever seen the effects of white phosphorus? I suspect not.

Finally, the topic is not about what Arabs do or do not do. That would be an interesting thread and one in which I would not be opposed to engaging, but it is not the topic of Mr. Oliphant’s cartoon nor of this conversation.

There is no use adding yet another argument pro or con, the issue has been talked to death and the venom doesn’t help. Instead I humbly and respectfully offer a suggestion. Visit Israel! There you will see the truth right in front of you. Ask the soldier sitting next to you on the bus if he wants to kill every Arab. He will tell you he doesn’t want to kill anybody. He would rather be home with his wife and kids. He has nothing against the Arabs at all and wishes they would leave him alone. Visit any hospital and notice that a large percentage of the patients are Arab, from all over the middle east. Stop by a synagogue and see if the Rabbi mentions anything about murder revenge and blood and killing everyone he doesn’t aggree with. Stand on any street corner and say whatever you want as loud as you want. No secret police will drag you away forever. Visit the Arab villages in Israel and ask why they don’t run away to Syria or Yemen. They will look at you like you are crazy. Ask them who they voted for in the last election. Stop a shool kid on the street and ask him what he wants to be when he grows up. the answers will all have something to do with sports the arts or sciences, and all the answers will be about something positive but most of the answers will end with “if I do grow up”. Want to get the Palestinian perspective? Just ask them, they are walking on the sidewalk next to you, sitting in the park with their kids just like the Israelis. They are not locked up in cages.

Want to express your political opinion? Start your own party! Everybody does it! You don’t even have to be a citizin!

If you really are as concerned as many people clearly are, how can you judge accuratly if you have never been anywhere near the place?

It is a different world there and Israel has made some mistakes…heck even Mr. Obama has made a few …but I am confident that any reasonable person would be surprised by what he sees. The distorted and just plain evil descriptions of Israel currently making the rounds in almost every media outlet make it easy for people to believe that Israel slaughters as many people as possible for the fun of it.

When you visit ask paople if they are pleased that so many people were killed. The man on the street will tell you that even though Hamas knew this was going to happen they continued to provoke Israel knowing that eventually the dam would burst and Israel would have to try to take out the shooters even if they were shooting from the third floor of a crowded apartment building.Having said that is, he happy other people wre killed? NO! And he is not handing out candies. Visit Israel then we will talk intelligently. The sad joke in all this is that if you strip away all the political baloney, the Jews and Arabs are relly very similar and can live together. Visit Israel and find out for yourself. I visited Egypt and came back with a totally different view of the people there and a newfound repect for them. It seems that many other people on both sides should take a similar trip.

When Hamas and the Qassam rocket brigades led assaults on the densely populated cities of Israel where was the media? Where was the outcry from the UN condemning such discpicable acts of violence? Over 6,800 rockets during the course of nearly 7 years landed inside Israel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Qasam_graph2002-2007.svg Not until Israel faught back did you hear outrage from the global community. The media printed inaccurate reports from Gazan sources. Only to print retractions on the back of the newspaper weeks later. You won’t find any stories on the nightly news about the Israeli man and 3 year old boy who were killed outside of a kindergarden from Hamas’ rockets.

So, you’re a “student of middle eastern history”. That makes it clear why you’re cliché spouting, sharia compliant hack. And, “among my closest friends are Jews”; you’ve made my day with the quintessential hack cliché of all time. Now, I wouldn’t normally waste my time responding directly to lick-spittle leftist morons; but, for the sake of those reading this, it may clarify a few of your “facts”, for obviously, you believe in the Jenin “massacre” and the “murder” of Mohammed al-Durra. The clarity and accuracy of the IDF after action reports that you scoff at are a product of the finest intelligence network in the world. It was the product of Israeli intelligence that was responsible for the recent destruction of the Syrian atomic reactor and the Sudanese convoy of arms (bet that action squeezed your anti-Jew heart). They know the name, Palestinian ID number, address and phone number of every barbarian in Gaza of the Philistines, and, that’s how they know who was killed and their affiliation and incidentally, that’s how they made phone calls to individual homes to warn them to leave because of impending military action.

Now, as for the phosphorus “bombs” that you misidentified earlier; they are 155 mm M825A1 smoke WP projectiles used for marking and screening. Get off of your lazy backside and go to the Jane’s site (or any other reputable military site) for credible information instead of the lying, pro-terror shills that you hang out with.

The Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons Protocol III clearly states that:

Incendiary weapons do not include: (i) Munitions which may have incidental incendiary effects, such as illuminants, tracers, smoke or signalling systems

You got that, moron. The devices used by the IDF are illegal only in your twisted mind. Hell, you aren’t even clued in to the latest blood libel concerning munitions use. I’ll get you up to speed on that one Bozo; it is supposed use of DIME munitions. Now, bring that one up and I’ll knock it out of the park, too.

Now, for your lie about “Palestinians”. Article 7 of the British Mandate refers to Jews not Arabs and how else would they refer to the intended residents of the British Mandate for Palestine? Until after the 6 Day War, Arabs would never refer to themselves as “Palestinians”. They were Arabs and part of Greater Syria or bilad ash-Sham and would defiantly maintain this until that reptile Arafat and his KGB cronies manufactured their new appellation. In fact, I defy you to find a reference to “Palestinians” in any UN document before November 4, 1970. Secondly, The Balfour Declaration was incorporated into the League of Nations Mandate in July, of 1922 which was incorporated into the United Nations Charter. “… the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people” was its primary goal - and Palestine included ALL of the land east of the Jordon River.

As a final point, you claim to have been in the US Military. When and where?

WilliamBrown, I will not dignify your personal attacks with a response. However, for the sake of other readers I will provide overall response. Least they believe your blowhard ranting.

Regarding the munition used, I never used the word bombs, you did. I am quite familiar with the munition used and I did not required a trip to Jane’s to know about it. I am also personally familiar with the effects of such munitions when applied to personnel. I am also acquainted with DIME and FLM munitions. I am also aware of the reports of Dr. Mads Gilbert and Dr. Erik Fosse and the possibility that they were used both in July of 2006 and in the most recent attack on Gaza by the IDF. I am also ware of Israel’s denial.

I encourage you to actually read the British Mandate. Again, as it uses the term “Palestinians” in article, you point is moot.

A few months ago, there was a cease fire agreed on by both sides…I’m not sure if the rest of the Gazans were aware of it because they were too busy rioting moments after their officials agreed to the terms. Throwing rocks and the occasional gunfire has turned more deadly after the IDF found a Gaza-bound arms convoy in Sudan.

Posted: Mar 27, 2009 “On Thursday, a Kassam rocket fired by Gaza terrorists hit the Sdot Negev region”

“Palestinians in Gaza continued to launch attacks from the Strip on Friday, firing an anti-tank missile at an IDF patrol along the border fence.”

“Since the end of Operation Cast Lead, some 100 rockets and mortar shells have been fired at southern Israel from Gaza.”

For you to pretend that a people whose population has expanded geometrically in the past few decades is being “genocided” - well, you are either deranged, a liar or both - especially when you insanely throw Bedouins onto your lie: Bedouins are some of the finest soldiers the IDF has.

firstly, to the person who thought that the star of david (magen david) had 5 points, it does not. the pentacle has 5 points, the magen david has six.

secondly, the magen david is the most recognized jewish symbol, therefore the cartoon does criticize judaism, even if oliphant did not intend to.

thirdly, israel is a JEWISH STATE, (for those of you who did not know), therefore criticising israel automatically results in criticising judaism, to a certain extent. i do, however, understand and agree that the two (religion and state) need to be dealt with separately as the state is not run entirely according to the religion.

fourthly, to the person who said that the current problem in gaza is due to past mistakes by the israeli government: i suggest you have a chat with the arab leaders of the ‘palestinians’ who rejected the 1947 partition plan. yes thats right, because they did not want the jews to have any land, they refused land to their own people. i suggest looking up facts before blatantly stating what is thought to be the truth…

Initially, I was going to close this chapter due to the personal attacks of one poster. Instead, I will simply ignore his posts.

I see Oliphant’s cartoon as representing the US (dark headless figure) as using Israel as an instrument of war. As a result of this blind aggression, women and children are trampled in the path, regardless if it is the intention.

If this imagine is correct or not is less important than the conversation is has brought forth.

As a global community we have to look past our own bias, the bias the media forces upon us, and past the emotions of the situation and look for the truth. By this we become powerful. Truth can change the world and it is truth the media and bias haters who only have personal attacks want to suppress.

Regardless of what ever may or may not have happened in the past. Israel’s action did nothing to bring peace, destroyed the lives of many people, and has harmed their image to those who would otherwise support her. I being one of them.

Defy the media and the propaganda machines. Think for yourself. Get past your bias. Quit using the Bible as a whipping stick for your own agenda. For this it was never its intended. Demand the truth and accept nothing else.

I once lived with huge bias towards a specific political direction. I am thankful through travels and study to have escaped this perspective. I encourage other to do the same.

I have no agenda against the Jewish people or great love for Arabs. I just demand the truth and the truth in the portion of this situation represented by Oliphant’s cartoon is well presented. Time to quit drinking the kool-aide folks.

So, the anti-Semitic liar slinks back. You post absolute garbage, deny it, and then refuse to take responsibility for your own words when confronted. You ARE a piece of work Mr. 4Liberty. You slander and lie and then claim to just “demand the truth” when you wouldn’t recognize it if it smacked you in the face; for, that is exactly what I did to you in your own words. It wasn’t personal attacks that made you into a raving anti-Jew liar - it was you own arrogance and hate.

Now, I’m going to challenge you again:

Where and when did you serve in the military?

Are you ready to admit that you don’t know a bomb from an artillery shell?

And, now, I am going to expose another of your lies.

You say “… before this action Jews, Christians and Muslims lived in this same land side by side in peace since the 16th century.” How many hundred Arab pogroms against Jews do I have to cite before your garbage is dispelled? Arab Muslims have murdered Jews since 627 AD and the Qurayza massacre and they continued to murder them in every decade in every generation in every land that they happened to co-exist. This most certainly happened in what was the British Mandate for Palestine prior to 1948. Some of the major pogroms include the Nebi Musa riots in April of 1920, The Jaffa riots of May of 1921, The Hebron Massacre in 1929 and the 1936 Arab riots which were the first stage of the “Arab Revolt” which lasted until 1939. In addition to this there thousands of raids on Jewish persons and property instigated by Hajj Amin al-Husseini during this period.

Is that the kind of peace that you had in mind? Are you so arrogant that you believe no one will recognize your bovine flatulence for what it is?

I could fill this blog with details of organized Arab murders of Jews since 1 AH and for those interested in the truth of the matter read “The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism: From Sacred Texts to Solemn History” by Andrew Bostom. So, please mention “the Golden Age of Spain” Mr. “travels and study” or some other bit of Arab propaganda. The truth is that this self proclaimed “student of middle eastern history” didn’t even get to Wikipedia much less the “travels and study” he claims. Now, every time you open your anti-Jew pie hole, Mr. 4Liberty, I will expose another of your lies.

White phosphorous The Balfour Declaration Illegal Jewish immigration into the Mandate Jewish rejection of partition Jewish theft of Arab lands Peaceful co-existence Serving in the military Being a world traveler Being a student of middle eastern history Among your closest friends being Jews Dr. Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian communist who stated that he supported the 9/11 attack on America, worked in Gaza during Cast Lead and is the probable source of many of the lies that you see reported here. He is an apologist and propagandist for terrorists. Jews and Arabs. You said, “This is true also for the Arab people. They are both people chosen by God for very different purposes. This providence does not give them the right to commit atrocities.”

Number 11 was refuted in context. Now, let’s deal with lie number 12. You are referring to Jews when you speak of providence, trying to smear them as committers of atrocities, but let’s scrutinize the “providence”, the divine inspiration, provided for Arabs. Take a look at:

    http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/2042.htm

    And:

    http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/2058.htm

This is every day, living and breathing Islam. Islam IS Koranically ordained anti-Semitism. And if you believe that these clips are unusual or non-representative then I can supply you with a hundred more just like them from every part of the Muslim world. You equate Jews and Arabs and Jews as if they perpetrate acts of terror by divine inspiration; so, in contrast let’s look at real Jewish behavior and see how it is reciprocated by Arabs:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-xK6FDdkzg

You got that 4Liberty? This is what Jews have been dealing with since time immemorial; and, you are part of it. I know their anti-Semitic propaganda is only going to get worse in the coming months, but what I actually fear more is that the politicians in Israel will concede yet more land for empty promises of peace from the terrorists. The qoran states, without any ambiguity whatsoever, and the imams state, without any ambiguity whatsoever, that the war against Israel and the Israeli People is an eternal war. The war will not end until every Israeli is dead. My earnest hope and prayer is that the politicians in Israel will finally realize this and end this foolishness of giving away land for peace! Shame that he chose Nazi imagery as his inspiration though. Really distasteful and the entire concept behind his piece is simply false.

    popz1943:

Oh, here we come! “Jews rejected and killed the One” Another “Christian” depicting Jews as Christ-killers. This is the medieval trope that was injected into services just before the congregation streamed out of churches and into Jewish neighborhoods for a delightful Sunday afternoon of killing and looting.

Let me educate you about mangling Christian scripture as you have done. Every reasoned Christian who believes in the truth of scripture agrees that the truth of the New Testament lies in the truth of the Old Testament. Therefore, it must logically be the case that the Old Testament cannot be false or the New Testament would be baseless. So, let’s look at an unambiguous Old Testament text. In the Book of Genesis, Chapter 12, Verse 1-3, we see what God says about His response to how people treat Israel:

Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

You got that, popz1943? Now, either this verse is false which we will both agree that it cannot be; or, either the New Testament that you quote is false or your interpretation of it is false. I believe that the latter is the case and that you, sir, are as screwy as the medieval analysis of God’s word that led to countless European pogroms.

On a more earthly level some notable people took your meaning that “opposing Zionism is neither anti-Semitic nor particularly radical” and interpreted it thusly:

“When people criticize Zionists they mean Jews, you are talking anti-Semitism.” - Martin Luther King

For a kicker, popz1943, since you seem impressed by the Los Angeles Times please educate yourself and read “Is anti-Zionism hate?” At:

    http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-pearl15-2009mar15,0,6323783.story

Judea Pearl, the mother of Daniel Pearl, knows of what she speaks.

And, finally, for the sake of your own twisted mind and the preservation of your immortal soul free yourself from the leftist/Marxist trap that you’re in and find a different church.

The point of a comic is to make a point… and Oliphant made his, that Israel is slaughtering poor helpless Gazans. Whether you want to call that anti-Semitic or not is irrelevant. The Palestinians have become expert at how they portray themselves as helpless victims in the media, and they are effective at censoring any coverage that shows otherwise (remember the Reuters reporter who was threatened with death if he showed the picture of an Israeli solder being dropped to his death from an apartment balcony?). The mainstream media like Oliphant have blindly bought into it.

Anyone seen the video of Hamas fighters being transported in a UN ambulance in Gaza (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ONKb9J2YeU)? Gee, maybe there is a reason Israel sometimes fires at these positions? Anyone discuss doctored photos and news reports in the US mainstream media (http://www.zombietime.com/reutersphotofraud/ and http://www.aish.com/movies/PhotoFraud.asp)? How about ABC editing out the end of an interview with a Gazan 4 year old girl - ABC played the segment where the devastated young girl says “I woke up and my four year old sister next to me was dead.” but left out the part where the girl also says: “I say, Hamas is the cause in the first place, of all the wars.” (full interview with the girl is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoi0TGyx_uA).

So pardon me if I am offended that yet another mainstream media person - whose cartoons influence many readers - is also taken in by this crap. Where is some honest, in depth reporting like Walter Cronkite instead of accepting the news bites fed by questionable sources? Oliphant is guilty of perpetuating bad reporting and incorrect ideas, and his cartoon lends no help to a real discussion of the problems faced by Israelis and Palestinians alike.

Bravo, Mr Oliphant. I guess the Nazi’s had been attacked countless times by the Jews in their history. TO the folks who think there were no Jews in “Palestine” do your reading. The Arab Trans-Jordanians who occupied “Palestine” have been fighting with the Jews who lived there for century’s. Why is it anytime a Palestinian blows himself up on a bus or in a market the world thinks “Hell a few more dead Jews, that’s ok! But if the Israelis fight back it’s always the response was overkill. In 1929 when the Palestinians rose up against the British somehow 400 Jews were killed in the ensuing violence. Some claim there were no Jews in Palestine until 1948. And if memory serves me correct the Israelis claimed their independence from the Britsh. So Mr. Oliphant Great use of A Goose stepping soldier to depict the Jewish Menace. Why not morph that Star of David into a Swastika while you’re at it.

Sorry, but a lot of you are misunderstanding the situation that Israel is facing. First off, the occuapation the Arabs are speeking about is the exsistence of Israel and whether they like it or not Israel will continue to exsist.

In the Balfour Decloration the Jews were promised Palestine (at the time it included Jordan as well). The problem was, the Arabs as well as the French were also promised Palestine. The British (controllers of the mandate at the time) limited the immigration DURING the holocaust when they knew Jews were being massacred as well as after. For political reasons (oil, numbers, etc.) the British constantly supported the Arabs. The Arabs revolted against Israel immigration and refused any compliance with the British.

The Churchil White Paper in 1922 in response to the Arab riots in Palestine gave 78% of Palestine to the Arabs and formed Trans Jordan. Is that not enough?

The Peel Commission in 1936 by the British was a partition of what was left of Palestine between the Arabs and the Jews. It was based on population, and due to the Jews immigration restirictions, it gave the Jews less then 30% of the land. The Jews accepted. The Arabs rejected.

Time and time again the Arabs (Palestinians) had the oppritunity to have their own state; however, time and time again they refused to co-exsist with the Jews.

If the Palestinians lay down their arms, there will be peace. If Israel lays down it’s arms, Israel will no longer exsist.

Please, people, get your history right. Trust me, Israel would LOVE to be at peace with the Arabs. How much more land is Israel supposed to give? Israel needs to live as well you know and also needs to defend itself.

Well, at least we know, what is New York Times all about. This got it straight unlike all the intellectual “we don’t want to say, we hate Jews”. This is as plane as Sturmer or as Soviet Pravda.

NYT took the same path as biblical pharao, as Antiochos Epifanes and Vespasianus.

WillaimBrown, I suspect you’d have to be an excellent street fighter, is that correct?

I have had the misfortune of reading your diatribe here. 4liberty posed reasonable questions, and indeed common facts for you to ponder. None of which you have been able to address.

Your personal conduct leaves me bewildered. You had an audience here that you have alienated with your very poor behaviour. A wasted opportunity to make a valid point, to correct, with facts, what you thought incorrect. Instead you rant and rave like a dimwit grasping at straws. Name calling like a two year old. And when that bait wasn’t taken, you set about being a bully boy. By my mind you have the mental capastity of a gnat. Is that why your only rebuffs have only been personal attacks?

If I were to assume for a minute that you are even remotely intelligent, then I could only come to the conclusion that you are not able to address any question or fact put forward to you because you do not care for truth. I care not who your god is, but I assure you, if I ever came across an arrogant, ignorant, offensive and belligerent person like you in the street, I too would be the better man and walk away, just as 4 liberty has. You have repulsed me. But alas! I know others that would belt a person like you to within an inch of their lives though…. Hence my opening question. Aren’t you glad that you have the internet to hide behind.

    Anderson:

4Liberty turned tail because he was caught in his own lies, got embarrassed and was unable to respond. Did you really read my posts? They are fact filled, well-reasoned and replete with references. In fact, I listed a dozen specific points of his that were particularly deficient and was in the process of knocking them out of the ball park one by one when he headed for the hills. I can’t help it if his positions are so insipid that they would insult a well-read 5th grader. Now, if you choose to assume his mantle, do it; but, I have to tell you that your command of the language and logic indicates that you would probably do no better than your buddy. Finally, please don’t send up the straw man of being dismayed by personal attacks. I learned in kindergarten that if your only defense is hurt feelings then it means that you lost the argument.

This is stupid. It is simple to stop the Israeli Army from going into Gaza–just stop the arabs from launching rocket attacks on innocent Israeli citizens and towns. Why does everyone ignore the cause and only castigate the effect? I know, the Jews killed Christ so they must be responsible for all other bad things in the world–terrible things like Polio Vaccine, Hit Broadway shows, the rebuilding of the only democracy in the Middle East from a desert wasteland to a beautiful, fertile country whose contributions to Science, Medicine, the Arts, and humanity in general should be totally forgotten or ignored. I’m sick of the tolerance of anti-semites and they best understand that the Jewish People are never again going to be carted into cattle cars for transportation to the crematoriums. Israel kicks ass! And always will!

The left has circumnavigated the political spectrum so far that it has gone all the way to the right. It was the Mufti who went to Nazi Germany with Himmler and made a pact with the Muslim Brotherhood in 1947. It was the Muslim Brotherhood which was handed the mantle of the Reich and metastacized it into Hamas. The Blood Libels of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion taught to the youth of Gaza and Beirut by the Brotherhoods followers is symptomatic of the propaganda and incitement of the Islamofacists whose motto is Today the Saturday people, tomorrow the Sunday people. Wake up America, the New York Times is disgusting in its support of this sickening leftist cartoon.
