i kinda like it that he got out of prison with a perfunctory “slap on the wrist” instead of the usual criminal proceedings for the action

church, zeidi’s throwing his shoes wasn’t about race obviously, it was response to bush’s criminal behavior

Come now Church, you know why al-Zaidi threw those shoes.

Parker: He still served 9 months of a 3 year sentence after he was prosecuted and convicted in a criminal trial. It’s a little more than a slap on the wrist (especially since he was beaten up severely shortly after the incident, and he claims he suffered further mistreatment & torture later).

At any rate, the Iraqis themselves were divided between supporting him or condemning him.

I think anyone reading Scott’s other posts on this forum along with this one, can easily come to the same what Palestino concluded, especially with the stereotypical camel reference. It’s just another bit of bigotry in a long list for Scott the rock.

Those who are really interested in the matter can read Mr al-Zaidi’s own words about why he threw those shoes here : http://preview.tinyurl.com/nubxfw. When I think of this incident and how Muntazer al-Zaidiis to be be regarded, I imagine a Norwegian journalist throwing his shoes at a certain Adolf Hitler on a visit to Norway in, say, 1944, with Vidkun Quisling standing in the position occupied by Nouri al-Maliki on 14 December 2008….

I always doublecheck all your posts whenever you reply, M Henri, there’s always an insightful reply, no matter how far back the cartoon (within whatever bounds of the non-genius accounts) Thanks for the article.
