I just wanted to take a moment to say thanks to everyone for the sympathy. I’m feeling a little bit better today. It is really hard to have someone die, especially someone so young. But he had a lot of problems with his lungs and his heart. So I’m just going to keep in mind that he won’t have to suffer.
When a young person shows respect and obedience to an older person, they’re being deferential to the elder’s wisdom and experience. To be obedient, courteous, or dutiful are all ways of being deferential.

That is really impossible too !

Calvin prefers something in a less kindly vein.

Just name yourself Cool Calvin…

I find that having a petty good group of friends is one way to be cool. As for attitude I like Hobbes idea.
Yukoner almost 15 years ago
Hobbes, you’ll never make it as a politician.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
why not? all the best politicians are courteously deferential, so they can get what they want.

A good attitude rules!

Attitude is important.
Altitude is good, too.

How about courteously noncompliant?
ejcapulet almost 15 years ago
Courteously deferential tends to confuse people - it’s perfect!

Having an attitude or simply being yourself–which of the two is greater?
Rakkav almost 15 years ago
“Being yourself” is an attitude, Mr. Spock – your logic is in abeyance! :)
rentier almost 15 years ago
Hobbes is the best!
unemandarine almost 15 years ago
Calvin and Hobbes with an attitude, mom and dad should brace themselves!
carpetinwater9 almost 15 years ago
Calvin with an attitude. What else doesn’t he have. Calvin’s always cool and Hobbes is cooler.
archerxd002 almost 15 years ago
always thinking out side the box Hobbes.

Benign neglect?
alondra almost 15 years ago
Oh Hobbes, you’re asking him to change his whole personality.

sounds Canadian, if you ask me

I don’t think Calvin’s going to buy into that logic. But maybe he should try taking a page out of Snoopy’s book.
kab2rb almost 15 years ago
Calvin reminds me of teenage on Zitts who has attitude.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Calvin already has ‘tude.
sjoujke Premium Member almost 15 years ago
I agree with cleokaya. Calvin has more brass than most.
bleepingdeadalien almost 15 years ago
Punk is an attitude…and it’s cool…and C is sportin’ a faux-hawk…he’s halfway there.
lazygrazer almost 15 years ago
If reckless abandon is considered an attitude, he needs to cut back.
bald almost 15 years ago
the only thing about having an attitude is there is always someone telling you that you need to have it changed
Wildmustang1262 almost 15 years ago
If a person has a real good attitude, he or she can be my friend. If not, forget it! I will not deal with bad attitude person.

Calvin & Hobbes are totally different, but you can still count on them to make you laugh with their strange relationship
cello_wizard almost 15 years ago
Hobbes, with the right attitude, you could get all the babes!
4deerinmyyard almost 15 years ago
Hobbes, Green Engineer, and Tin-Hut John win.
johnnydoc5 almost 15 years ago
If you are nice to people, they may or may not think you are cool, but they would like you.

do you mean, “sounds Canadian eh, …”
That’s what makes Canadians great peace keepers. Although I don’t know what the hell they’re doing in Afghanistan.
wolfbyte36 almost 15 years ago
Calvin you already have attitude, that alone makes you cool. All we need now is for Bill Watterson to come out of retirement.
I don’t see that happening any time soon unfortunately.
Kerovan almost 15 years ago
Umm. Calvin? The purpose of looking cool is to attract girls. Are you sure that’s what you want?
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
nope. he means “eh” not “aye”. that’s how we canucks pronounce the word.
mrprongs almost 15 years ago
Calvin just wants a rude ‘tude.

I’ve been living in Canada since November and I’m still working on saying “eh” instead of “huh” since I’m an American.

Macushlalondra, with a name like that you should have been living in Quebec or New Brunswick all your life. (No offense meant.)
