Oh! I can’t wait! I hope I get invited to ride in there Porsche. I know, maybe if I’m lucky they’ll hire me to chauffeur them around since they don’t have a drivers license.

the thought that an archaeologist can afford a Porsche is even more imaginative than the identification of a coke bottle as a dinosaur skull. this story arc is hilarious

This reminds me of when ladywolf dug up a crystal. She was so excited that she wanted to keep on digging.

Calvin’s use of “we” in the last panel shows that rather than being selfish he is willing to give Hobbes a porsche-ion of the fame and glory.

I didn’t think of this before, but why is a coke bottle buried in their pristine forest!! LOL! Perhaps it is the remains of Max Headroom, right Co-co-coke-ologists!?!?!?

Calvin was far ahead of his time… the most recent “Millenial” generation is all about “grant money”. They want to do work that is “meaningful” and figure that everyone should chip in to make it possible. It reminds me of that new commercial in which the “Chief Shoe-Giver” for Tom McCann says he “runs his business” from his cell phone. I laugh every time I hear it… As if giving stuff away is a “business”!

This was way ahead of its time.. Seems to be a lot of todays “research science” is really targetd to get more grant money - not necessarily to answer any real questions or break new ground. Polititions giving it out want the research to prove their point of view. So Calvin is on track - it’s not about the discovery and what other treasures lie beneath, its whats in it for him (and Hobbs).

Well Archaeology was originally called a rich man’s hobby. Why? Because you had to be rich to do it, nobody would pay you enough to live on for that job. I agree though, what an imagination.

i think a better car for calvin might be a jeep so they can get to more dig sights, a porsche would have trouble traveling on dirt or in sandy soil

Not if he were driving a Porsche Cayenne, their SUV abomination or one of the factory prepped Paris-to-Dakar raised four wheel drive 911s.

As long as Calvin is using his imagination (when is he not) he should use the money from the sell of the Calvinosaurus skull to get a 1963 or ‘64 Ferrari GTO, one of only 58 made. Or a new Ferrari FXX supercar, of which they have only made 38 examples. Or a pristine big block Shelby Cobra. Or …

“200 Grant monies might get you a nice used Citron though. (nice French car)”

contradiction in terms EMET; the car is named “Citr_oe_n”; in French, the word “citron” means a lemon (which in Americanese/Canuckese is any car you want to even avoid touching with a barge-pole), though some might say the misspelling is ok (partly true, as for those who hate Citroens, these would be a subset of lemons).

You’re right. It looks like the skull of an Ostentatious, a fish eating meatosaur that went extinct when, looking for a fish, saw it’s reflection in the water and stared at it until died of hunger. Eventually, they all went extinct the same way.

pabloherrera, some people like to make believe, I guess …..if you were to enter that comment in “for better or worse”— the go comics nazis will simply eliminate your comment…..the people that comment on that strip are in their own little ’ better or worse’ world and you had better not cross them and you had better not remind them that it is a ‘cartoon’ you might spoil all the fun

JonD17, I can see the Sunday strip now, with Stupendous Man in his Open Class Baja Buggy flying over the crests of sand dunes. SM with cape flapping in the wind and Hobbes with his goggles, strapped into the passenger seat. The last panel would show Calvin and Hobbes in their red wagon coasting down the sidewalk.

All of this brought to you by the bottlers of Coke and Diet Coke.

Keep collecting the bottles Calvin! Your five cents towards your new car! Lets see average of $65,000.00 (used) divide by .05 and we get 1,300,000 cans. Meaning 1,299,999 cans to go! DIG FASTER!!!
