I like this comic. I thought the Kennedys’ politics were all far too liberal for my taste but I honor their hard work and sacrifice for our country.

I knew the Repubs would bring up Chappaquiddick. Their mean-spiritedness knows no bounds.

Mean-spiritedness? Give me a break. Repubs are the best thing going. The Dems are what’s wrong with this country. Anyways, looking at the comic strip above, it looks like the 3 Kennedy brothers welcoming Teddy to heaven. That’s my guess.

Never have really liked any of the Kennedy bloodline, but let the dead rest in peace.. God Bless even those we dislike because we should never speak ill of the dead regardless of our personal feelings..

“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” Matthew 7:20”

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone” John 8-7

    RIP, Ted Kennedy.

Your great public works will speak for themselves far longer than those mean-spirited souls among us who would malign you and your legacy, even on the day of your passing.

His eulogy for Bobby was especially meaningful to me. As a 12 year old, I had met Bobby at a campaign event in Indiana a couple of months before he was assassinated.

    RIP!

Years ago a fellow parishoner at our church said he knew Ted Kennedy because they were in the same army outfit together. He said Ted was “a regular guy.” Ted Kennedy devoted his public service into getting health care programs to those who needed the help. Rest in Peace.

Some mighty thoughtful Repubs posting today, especially in light of the rightous leadership the American Public has suffered the past few decades.

    So who’s making a comparison? Like I said, I just thought I’d mention it…

As for Senator Kennedy, The evil that men do lives after them; the good oft lies interr’d with their bones. So let it be with Teddy.

As Orrin Hatch said, if Teddy gave his word, you could count on it. Like Walter Conkrite, he knew and loved the sea, and sailing, it taught him how to both read the wind, and tack across it to get to his destination.

“Today’s” politicians go whatever way the winds and idiot polls blow, little strength or intelligence for them to survive a rough sea.

” Quality care shouldn’t depend on your financial resources, or the type of job you have, or the medical condition you face. Every American should be able to get the same treatment that U.S. senators are entitled to. This is the cause of my life. “ — Sen. Edward Kennedy

Churchill, I think you miss the point of the Kennedy quote entirely. Kennedy DID envision all Americans having access to the medical care that Senators have. It isn’t a question of bringing Senators down to OUR level, it’s a question of raising ours to match theirs…

    churchill-

what exactly do you mean by “the insurance that we all have”?

    53 million of “us” don’t have insurance…

What Ted Kennedy envisioned is that ALL of “us” would have access to health care, just the same as we have access to police and fire protection, public education, and protection by the armed forces.

Don’t worry about having the same as our elected officials. The President will ALWAYS get better care than you or I, because he’s more important, period. (Do You get a Secret Service escort? I sure don’t).

Instead, think about what it would be like if the unemployed and the working poor could get access to the same health care we afford police, firefighters, DMV employees, soldiers and their families, and convicted prisoners.

What would it do for the economy if we eliminated the 66% of personal bankruptcies caused by the medical bills associated with catastrophic illness?

I often don’t comment because there’s just nothing to say (and too many say too much already IMHO), but I will relate one story of when I met Ted Kennedy. It was an awards ceremony where I was giving the invocation and he was a speaker. By whatever strange quirk of fate, I ended up sitting next to him during the ensuing luncheon. The of the table was filled with high powered politicians, and there I was the loan poor priest. For all his personal faults (and I think we all can share in having our own), he was generous and kind not leaving me out of the conversation that was mostly about their private circle of friends. I appreciated that gentle gesture. I also believe that he, a child of the privileged class, did not have to work as hard as he did all his life for the marginalized. That says something.

Eddie, if you believe, then you trust that God has more mercy than anyone. But you err when you say he’s responsible for those abortions. He was responsible for arguing that abortion should be legal. That’s different. Keeping it legal does not increase the number of abortions, only reduces the number of frightened young women who die in back-ally abortions. If you want to reduce the number of abortions, increase education, economic opportunity and better access to birth control. If, on the other hand, you merely want to condemn others (as you are doing), be very careful, because God who forgives also says, “Judge not, that you may not be judged. For with whatever judgment you judge, you shall be judged; and with whatever measure you measure out, it shall be measured to you again.” (Matt. 7:1-2)

He made a mistake with Mary Jo and the rest of his life was spent trying to make the world a better place. From what I’ve read of Mary Jo I suspect she would have forgiven him. But the right needs something to use to demonize him.

Reagan was a man of principle, and so preferred to stay with his friends.

But don’t worry; once they’ve got that “camel-through-the-eye-of-a-needle” problem worked out, they’ll all enter together.
