Kinda’ hard to hold onto that electron. Which is part of the problem of “commenting” on fear of the atom, very few folks know any more about particle physics than the reality of nuclear weapons, their potential for use versus suicide, and what constitutes a “real” threat. Lots of fear of potential energy, and people don’t realize that driving a car (kinetic energy) while on a cell phone is probably more dangerous to Americans than Iran.

Actually Iran using a nuke would be far more dangerous to Iranians. Same with North Korea. The response from the established nuclear powers would be far worse than the handful of nukes that they could get off before the rest of the world bombs them back to the stone age. They would be better off following the example of South Africa, and giving up their nuclear arsenal.

    …because Israel has them, too.

And Russia, and the USA, and UK, France, Pakistan, India…

If you look at it from an Iranian point of view om is absolutely right.

So, one more irresponsible foolish nation steals technology that they can harm the world with, that they could not have developed on their own, and that is somehow right? No.

We invented every piece of technology we have? C’mon, you can do better than that. Besides, you are still missing the point. From Their point of view, there is no reason why they shouldn’t have them. Irresponsible is our viewpoint not theirs. I doubt they trust either us or Israel with them. While I still think it was necessary, an outsider might also point out that America is the only nation to have used them. As an American, MY point of view is obviously different but it doesn’t keep me from being aware of it.

How many times has Iran bombed it’s neighbors (outside the conflict with Iraq that WE encouraged) versus how many times has Israel bombed its neighbors? Those statistics say Israel’s nukes are a MUCH GREATER THREAT to the world.

(oops, I forgot to include China & N. Korea. How did I forget that? pffft)

South Africa. Hmm, yeah, well, the Vela incident was rumoured to have been completed with Israel’s help. How much Israel assisted South Africa with its programme in the 70s and 80s, only the apartheid government(s ;-) ) can tell us. Now, I wonder whether Israel helped the South Africans with the nod from its er, benefactor? Israel also assisted the South Africans of that era in other matters.

Thanks Gladius, you’ve put my point across perfectly, that’s exactly what I meant.

Reminds me of Tom Lehrer’s old song, “Who’s Next?”

    Here’s part I think of:

Egypt’s gonna get one too, Just to use on you know who. So Israel’s getting tense. Wants one in self defense. “The Lord’s our shepherd,” says the psalm, But just in case, we better get a bomb. Who’s next?

go to http://tinyurl.com/mznasc for the rest of the song.
