Hi everyone, I’m finally home after visiting really old people ie. my dad and husbands mom in the Midwest. Almost had to kiss the ground when we landed.
I’ve have two weeks of catching up to do with my toons.
(I love bright colors in the toons, and I understand anything goes…ie: cartoon physics, implausible stories and all that….but, what’s up with the lime green dog??? )
nein nein nein nein!(name that movie!)just to clear up something…..I did not create the picture of the doggies with their bowling balls yesdtiddy. the implication was that I did…….all I did was google ‘dogs bowling’ and there it was.I simply defer to Stel ol’ bel and Chalkie, who have taken it to another level.incidentally, that ‘Edmund Fitzgerald’ video was a treasure.Hauntingly beautiful song by Gordon Lightfoot at his best in the mid seventies…..come to think of it I was at my best in the mid seventies…so was Judy Collins.so was Stel ol’ Bel….check that…..Stel is STILL at her best!
Looks like the kitty hasn’t quite got the hang of skiing. Then again, neither have I. And there’s no chance of getting me anywhere near snow now, no way, no how.
Good morning, cleo, sugar, Fellow Baby & the rest of the CD gang!
Re: Gordon Lightfoot and “Wreck…” It is a beautiful and haunting song. Unfortunately, I was pregnant with VERY bad morning sickness when it was popular. Every morning that blasted radio station played it at the same time, every morning my husband sat on the other side of the bed putting his socks on, bouncing the bed like a wayward boat. To this day I feel slightly nauseated when I hear Gordon’s beautiful song. Timing, as they say, is everything.
I have the distinction of having seen Gordon Lightfoot in his boxer shorts. During the early 1970’s he was in Vancouver, BC for a concert. A friend of mine and I were at the hotel he was staying in to visit with one of his band members. The three of us went up to Gordon’s hotel room and he answered the door in his shorts and visited with us without feeling the need to alter his atire.
@Happy, Happy,The song you posted by Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch and Alison Krauss was beautiful. I have many albums by all 3 but this is one of the best for all of them. Love those voices together…makes me think of how the Angels are going to sound…thank you for posting it!
As to the lime green dog, changes in lighting can do that.As a kid I wondered about some of Lautrec’s colors in the Moulin Rouge
As to growing old (we all do) and I find that I just enjoy/appreciate things more as time passes. I was hoping to pass my 76th Birthday this month in Chicago but I will make other plans. In any case it’s just easier to be home with my own kitchen to cook in I won’t break my diet.
The dogs look like they took the lift chairs in both directions; that is a fun summer activity here (drive to Flag from Phoenix on a really HOT day and enjoy lunch and a couple of hours up on the mountainsides (where it’s 30 degrees cooler).

Perhaps the lime green dog is from Mars.
