Actually, the term breakfast comes from 2 words: break and fast, which is what one is doing. To fast is to not eat, so you are breaking the fast.

Isn’t it obvious – the owners want to keep track of how many customers they’ve served and how many meals they’ve prepared – therefore: Lunch Counter!!!
