    It was fun shopping for land in remote locations after that non-event. You could find some interesting off-the-grid structures going VERY cheap.

    Ah, yes. I remember the Y2K panic.When upper management kept 3 techs on hand in case everything crashed. While it really would have only taken one to reboot the system, I imagined a Three Stooges like scene with the un-technically inclined supervisor demanding that they at least, LOOKED like they were doing something about the expected failure. A faked outage, to solidify their job security with clueless management was rejected early on as unsustainable in light of possible make-work requests for documentation “in case this happens again”. Y3K?

    I learned COBOL when I got my Computer Degree in 73. Made a killing in 99. Heh, heh,.
