Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
Santa would definitely appreciate a beer with his sandwich but he always got cookies at my house and everyone knows milk goes best with cookies. Come to think of it if Santa got beer at Christmas the gifts would be wrapped much differently and alot of the toys wouldn’t be put together because he’d be asleep drooling in the lazyboy chair!
Dad told me Santa liked Slim Jims and bourbon, and if I left him a double, he might forget the coal on the sleigh. Some Christmases I thought I heard Santa swearing at his toolbox.
This is the sentiment that I remembered from the old days of reading this comic.
The recent sentiments, commented on by others, about Calvin’s obnoxiousness, etc, do not carry anywhere near the same effect as this.
Love is the thing the world needs most and the thing we have the least of. C&H have figured that out. Now the rest of us have to follow in their footsteps.
Santa would have to pass up the beer anyway. Even though the packages are all wrapped and loaded, tagged and addressed, Santa especially should know that one does not drink and drive.
LX013 It’s just like saying ‘Oh, isn’t that sweet!’ People use it when they see something especially touching. It can be used to express sadness, too, such as ‘Aw, that’s too bad’.
reminds me of many years ago when my wife and I failed to put anything in the stocking for our daughter’s stuffed whale…..nice comment by Mr. Watterson on the the true spirit of Christmas……

“Merry Christmas?”
It’s February, for crying out loud… ☺
At my house, Santa preferred the 6 1/2 oz bottles of Coke with his home baked chocolate chip cookies. He always left the empty bottle behind so we could get back the deposit. Nice guy that way.
*The strip is great! Always loved this one. I have the whole collection of Calvin and Hobbes, but I’m surprised none of you parents haven’t remarked on the EARLY WAKE UP CALL Christmas morning, after staying up half the night to get the gifts out after the kids went to bed! :-D
Awwww.
(couldn’t resist saying it, despite - or because of! - the comments about it)
Boys of any age have both a sweet streak and too much testosterone (or just plain ego). They just need to be reminded continually - and, as an older boy myself, I’m afraid to say that’s never really finished.
