I’m not familiar with ‘The Sandman’.

Nor I! Nice art; not sure I appreciate the commercial message (but I suppose a guest artist does earn some recompense).

SANDMAN was written by Neil Gaiman. It’s an epic fantasy about seven characters who have been around since the beginning of the universe and will continue until it ends. The main character, Dream, is the ruler of the dream dimension. The others include Death (portrayed as a young goth girl), Delirium, Destiny and…uhh…gee, it’s been a long time.

Seriously, it’s an extraordinary achievement. If you like great fantasy, you should check it out. (ALSO: I doubt the person who drew this comic was connected to SANDMAN in any way, if that’s what you’re objecting to - the reference was probably an homage. If you’re objecting to the URL in the cartoon, well, part of the reason for doing guest cartoons is to promote your own work, and it’s not as if it’s that obtrusive, so, again, I don’t see any real cause for complaint.)

A most hearty second for SANDMAN. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the graphic novel that really deserves the praise that WATCHMEN usually gets. Astounding creation. Destruction and Despair are two of the other characters, BTW. Can’t recall who the last two are, offhand. If you know Neil Gaiman, get this NOW. If you don’t, get this NOW so you can.

OK, so am I still in Dream’s castle or am I awake?

Ahh - tales of the Endless family. Thanks for the reference.

The Sandman series was like a Twin Peaks in the afterlife. I was totally a fan and impressed. I got away from the series with a job and a family. Sandman was a really, in my opinion, profound statement. I am a film maker and would love to make a project from it, if I had the funds.

I met Neil Gaiman at a book signing after the movie “Princess Mononoke” came out. He wrote the English language screenplay for it.

I’m also a devoted Sandman (and her sister Death) fan. I recommend to everyone. mental07: I heard Neil Gaiman is going to make a movie of Death: The High Cost of Living.
