It’s been awhile since I saw such a smoking pile of stinking bigotry as I did in the confirmation hearings. At least not since we heard anything out of the Supreme Court.
Bigotry? No. Exercise of Congressional over-sight? Yes.
It was Schumer and the other Dems excuse for driving Estrada out of the process.
Although I give her the benefit of a doubt…Sonia Sotomayor could very well be a flaming loony-toon in a black robe.
Considering the atmosphere surrounding any minority candidate, harsh questioning is likely to be taken as racially biased by Someone. Whether the questions, in this case, were racially biased will largely depend on your own personal Political bias. One could make a good case either way. I have no real problem with her nomination or approval.
According to Wik,i which may or may not be correct, it was used in the Belgian Congo by Francophones. I am assuming that Wiki was referring to the French speaking Belgians.

I have in my cabinet 4 adorable little monkeys, tales in the air, prancing around. I have called my children to the dinner table with “common monkeys time to eat.”
But if I use that exact same word in the wrong location I have suddenly become a racist?
Some people would consider being called a monkey as a compliment. But not the monkeys in Congress…
