Fellow Baby, I don’t recall hearing that song on Benny Hill. Personally I would have gone with the more lively tune that they ran the ending credits with.
It took me a few minutes this morning to figure out where I heard your ring tone (Erik Satie’s “Trois Gymnopedies"). Now that I know, I’m embarrassed that it took me that long, since “back in the day” (‘69-’70), I listened to it over and over…Variations On A Theme By Erik Satie (Blood, Sweat and Tears)
NO ONE listened to Mancini’s Baby Elephant Walk more than I did (I wore out that record a few years before I was wearing out the Blood, Sweat and Tears album!!). That brought back a lot of really good memories, since I hadn’t heard it in a few decades. Thank you so much for posting that last night!!!!!
Last year, I was at a flea market looking at jewelry, when I heard this theme. I kept trying to answer my phone for a couple of minutes, until I turned around and saw that the next booth was playing the actual movie on an old TV! Did I feel dumb…..
Fellow Baby, yes the music was in one of Benny Hill’s mime skits, where he played the bum and had no speaking lines. That is where I first heard that music and thought how very pretty it sounded. Did a lot of research until I found the name of the piece and who wrote it, etc. Then I bought, as I said, one of his cassettes. Back when I belonged to BG Music Club, I bought a lot of cassesttes of classical, rock bands, etc.
“Stel, my ringtone is the first movement, quiet and peaceful.”++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++As is the very first part of the Blood, Sweat and Tears track…
It snowed just enough that my youngest didn’t have to go to work, and I was off anyway, so it was a decent day. He’s 22 now so when I can spend time with him, it’s a plus! :-)
And we both like football, so we watched First Take and Around the Horn.
@ Dry Erik Satie’s “Trois Gymnopedies” sounds lovely. I listen to it on a CD from Kellogs, of all things. One year, you got a free classic CD in a box a Kellogs cereal. I got three.
x-tech Apartment/condo life is interesting, isn’t it? My neighbour has a long distance call ring. I don’t anymore, so at least I know those aren’t for me.
wow.im falling asleep at the best part of the movie.i think im going to finish folding my laundry and make my bed and go to bed.good night people and petssee you tomarow aftrenoom
Shika, towels in laundry detergent?? Why yes, I remember that! My mom got several towels that way, and drinking glasses from some brand of sour cream, 12 ounces. I still get the little juice glasses when I buy the Old English Cheddar Cheese Spread, which surprisingly is still around!

Hey, kitty boy is hungry, cut him some slack. It’s hard work going door to door. Besides, it’s just a floater.
RetroJenny over 11 years ago
LOL. I guess he got hungry after those long hours of census taking.

I never really thought about it, but I guess I am a Mancini fan! I listened to Lujon , then stayed at YouTube to listen to a few more! Great music!
PS: I never knew the Looney Tunes theme was called The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down ! Great ring tone!

StelBel, my first choice was also a Blondie song called Hangin’ On the Telephone, but it wasn’t available.
