A commie cowboy? Andropov was Secretary General for only a little over a year, before Gorbachev. Considering his short term, he may have been as much of a nightmare for the KGB as for Reagan. The KGB made quick work of their nightmares.
At the same time the former head of the KGB was the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (i.e., leader), the former head of the CIA was vice-president of the United States.
