Lewreader: nope, not really. Although the original wasn’t bad (now known as episode 4), it wasn’t great either. Good for popcorn back in the day, but in all honesty, unless you really are a fan of Drive-in B movies, none of the SW opus will do much for you. On the other hand, John William’s score was something way above what such a film normally would have got, and it actually brought the film up to a higher level, but since the film was an affectionate tribute to a certain 40’s and 50’s formula, and itself is the basis of many later films, it feels formulaic today. wow, that was a way to detailed answer when “nope” would have sufficed. (oh, and when I was 17 and in film school and it first came out, I saw it 8 times. Saw it once again around 10 years ago and wondered what on earth made me see it 8 times back then, then i realized - I was 17 at the time - ‘nuff said.)

Ah yes, Episode IV. I saw the movie and after that I was in the car, Star Wars cassette playing in the cassette player and, in my mind, I was flying along in my Ti-fighter looking for the evil Darth Vader so I could conquer him and save the world. Alas, Darth Vader pulled me over and gave me a ticket for doing 52 in a 40 zone.

Looking on both my Star Wars albums (2 records each) nowhere does it say episode 4, or any other episode. The Star Wars trilogy was great entertainment for teens at the time - as proven by the number of teens that could recite the movie dialoge by heart after watching it 50+ times (like my cousin who says he say it over 100 times in theatre)

Lawreader the older ones are worth it episodes 4, 5, and 6 are classics. However do not do not watch the new ones episodes 1,2,3 unless you longer desire a soul, they are awful just awful and I really wanted to like them too.

i watched episode 1 with my little niece, who was about three at the time, on a DVD (or it might have been VHS) and thought it wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t that good either. i’ve since watched episodes 2 and 3 on commercial TV and feel that that’s about the only way to watch them. they just didn’t interest me much. on the other hand, i thoroughly enjoyed the first three (episodes 4, 5, & 6), especially the first one. and i love this story arc!

In this scenario, wouldn’t Limekiller be Obiwan? If Binkley’s Luke, that makes his Dad Vader. Makes sence. He won’t like this nonsence.

Isn’t it strange? How did Lucas manage to get episodes 1, 2, and 3 so wrong, wrong, wrong? Guess he fell in love with the new SFX tech invented since he made 4, 5, and 6, and forgot to attend to the basics of storytelling: the WRITING.

Either that, or he simply went over to the Dark Side.

Yesterday the penguin-droid could talk, but today he only beeps and whirrs; did he just eat at Dairy Queen?
