    Actually, I think that I am probably a popped zit on a teenager’s nose. “Hey cool, let’s examine that.”

    Reminds me of a SF story that was a teacher’s note to God’s mother, telling of some of the disquieting aspects of his school project, and recommending him for counseling.

    “There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

    “There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”

    – Douglas Adams, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”

    Sure beats the notion that single cell organisms spontaneously formed on the backs of crystals…

    The universe according to Capt. Eddie. At least the “Flat Earth Society” will be happy.

    I love this – it’s a very funny twist on Mark Twain’s most un-funny story. I read it way too many years ago to remember the title. It ended in the realization that he and his wife and the other passengers of a ship bound for nowhere were only a meaningless speck under a microscope and being peered at with minor interest by some big Scientist in the Sky. It was a very dark vision, not at all funny or meant to be, written after his wife’s death and not published during his lifetime. I think it was called “The Great Dark” or something similar. The “Non Sequitur” version is much more fun.

    Royman I love source material from the Guide. Now if we can discuss the facts section:

    Life = zero

    I read a SF story long ago, that we were on a piece debris in a giants eye.

    Naturally I do not recall the name after reading hundreds more.
