The “administration costs” of any school district expands to absorb any increase in school funding with little or none of any increase going to the classrooms or teachers. Its a sad fact of life.
There has always been fund raisers, even way back when I was in school. These fund raisers are not to buy text books or to pay the teachers’ salaries, they are for uniforms and such. It is not about increasing funding for education, as others have pointed out.
When I was in school, there was no fund raising. Times sure have changed. I would basically ask the school what the fund raising is for exactly. I really didn’t like my kids going door to door trying to sell something that’s not going to pay for direct education. If it’s for “uniforms and such”, you’re not getting my money. Either use it for actual education or forget about it. If you need uniforms, the people who are needing them should be the ones to pay for them. If you can’t, then you’re out of luck. It’s life and sometimes you have to do without until you are able to afford it.

If education were properly funded, districts and teachers would not be reduced to beggary.

Nothing I hated worse than going house to house trying to sell $hit that nobody wants…No kid should ever have to do that!

Again – no amount of money is enough if the schools aren’t judicious in how they use it.
