You’ll note that none of the REAL PRINCIPALS have even gone to trial, much less gotten time. And it’s not looking to me as if they will. Same ol’ same old: Them as has gits… in this case they git out of jail free.
18 years! The 8th Amendment precludes “cruel or unusual punishment.” This harsh sentence will be appealed. If you can loot a Target store at gunpoint and are let out on the streets in a matter of hours and never charged, there is some Imbalance in the justice system. This Oathkeeper deserves some time in the slammer. But the punishment should equal the crime. A few broken windows and doors? Congress rushed to safety for their own protection. Not a good TV image. The real crime, Pelosi ignoring intelligence that protesters might breach the capitol. A politician never likes egg on her face. Lock them up but fail to charge the rioters who attempted to breach the White House over a several day period. Several Capitol police and Secret Service were injured. At the Capitol onlh one person died. A female unarmed Trump supporter shot to death by an officer who got a slap on the wrist. Where is equal justice under the law in either situation?
After Nixon’s pardon, and our violation of Geneva torture agreement after 9/11, etc … that only the lower US caste really see punisment for crimes, is my expectation.

Oath Keepers head’s 18 year sedition sentence is a warning shot for Trump
Stewart Rhodes’ son fears Trump or DeSantis will pardon his father
Dakota Adams, eldest son of Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, was somewhat disappointed with the 18-year prison sentence a federal judge imposed Thursday on his convicted seditionist father.Adams considers it too short.
‘A great week for us’: Stewart Rhodes’ ex-wife happy he’s behind bars where he ’can’t hurt’ her family
Oath Keepers militia leader Stewart Rhodes may have been sentenced to 18 years in prison for his role in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol — but the damage he has done, and could do, is still tremendous, his ex-wife Tasha Adams told CNN’s Abby Phillip on Thursday.Despite this, she said, she is glad he is in a place where he is not a danger to her family anymore.
This sets a trend of the punishment increasing as they work their way up the chain. We will see if the trend is consistent when the Tario / Proud Boys verdicts come in.
If that trend continues into the upper echelons, one should expect at least this for the inner circle. It will be an interesting test of @superposition’s contention above. My bet is with his.
‘Sheer insanity’: Morning Joe torches Republicans floating pardons for MAGA rioters
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough called out the depravity of the two leading Republican presidential contenders for signaling they would pardon rioters who were convicted of crimes for their roles in the Jan. 6 insurrection.Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis have each said they would at least consider pardons for many of the insurrectionists, some of whom were sentenced to years in prison Thursday for taking part in a seditious conspiracy, and the “Morning Joe” host was appalled.
The hero of the trumpers that post on GoComics. Ammosexual, Patrick Murphy, guyjen, saylorgirl, conservativeman, artegal, it’s the end of the word, purplehelment, warcat, etc.
Stewart Rhodes claims he is just a political prisoner. But, the role of political prisoner we reserve for those whose only crime was speaking out against their government leaders, chanting against the government, or maybe doing sitins. Those, like Stewart, who punctuated their protest with breakins, destruction of property, assaults on the police, and threats of life taking potential are treated somewhat differently, and are no longer considered just political prisoners.
But, it is regrettable that he and the other many actual perpetrators of the January 6th insurrection are probably the only ones who’ll receive any punishment. While the folks at the top, especially Donald Trump, will likely go free. But, the problem is proving the instigators were criminally liable when they planned and/or called for the attack. Those that did it were recorded doing the act. Many brazenly recorded themselves breaking the law as if they were above the law. So, naturally, these will be prosecuted. But proving intent by the organizers, now that’s a different matter.
As has been said, when prosecuting, follow the money. And the one area where Trump can be brought to bear for any crime will be in that area where his, or the government’s, money is involved. He may, once again, escape punishment for higher crimes and misdemeanors, but the lower stuff, which can still put him behind bars, might very well still haunt him.
One thing that’s been proven is The Capital insurrectionists acted real tough when with the criminal mob attacking the Capital Police, trying to find those in Congress, and perhaps a VP to murder to install their dear leader as King of the USA. They are showing their true selves in their whining that the consequences of their actions aren’t fair.
Commit the crime do the time.
Now it’s time for their dear leader to face the consequences of his criminal actions those days, and so many more.
Every vote for a Republican is a vote for fascism. Plain and simple.
