People love the idea of V-8 powered pony cars, but the reality is they aren’t practical for anyone who has kids or needs to carry more than a 6 pack of beer. Even worse, EVs embarrass them coming off a stoplight. The young dudes who were the main market for Camaros don’t want to be embarrassed by some middle aged guy in a Tesla sedan. GM is already hinting they’ll bring the Camaro back as an EV.
I for one don’t give a tinker’s damm about neck-breaking acceleration. FAR more important are the attributes of safety, longevity, good handling, range, dependability, and — possibly the highest hurdle to conquer — rapidity of recharge. It doesn’t surprise me at whit that EV owners find, to their chagrin, that summer heat and winter cold cut the EV’s range; that’s merely due to a lack of understanding of fundamental reality and ignorance of the most basic laws of physics. Nor does it surprise me that EV makers and sellers soft pedal this most basic of EV range shortcomings.
I don’twant to sound like I’m agreeing with Payne, but there’s a point there. Muscle cars account for a miniscule portion of air pollution . Still, if a law is to be effective, it has to cover everyone and, if muscle cars are gone, wankers will surely find another way to make noise and bad smells.

A well designed electric hot rod can make a Camaro look like a turtle. And I’m sure Chevy’s working on one.
