Under George W Bush, we had the economic collapse of 2008.

Barack Obama was sworn in as president in January 2009 with a Democratic congressional majority his first two years and enacted major regulatory reforms, including the Dodd-Frank banking regulatory oversight legislation (which included the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as proposed by Elizabeth Warren) and led a successful economic recovery that benefitted everyone from Wall $treet to Main Street. The Obama-Biden administration also instituted transportation reforms including railway safety reforms.

Then Donald Trump became president (despite losing the actual vote of the people) and, beholden to his wealthy donors, rolled back the Obama-Biden banking, financial and transportation reforms. Senator Elizabeth Warren warned at the time exactly what we are now witnessing, avoiding the temptation to say “I told you so” is now (in a New York Times op/ed and numerous talk show appearances) calling attention to the tragic reality she predicted in 2018 when Trump decimated our safety oversight protections, and we can now see the tragic results for ourselves in so many ways.

Just more lies. Nothing Trump did contributed to the train wreck or the bank collapse. And even if that were the case, Biden has had 2+ years to reverse a Trump decision.

I was just waiting for the genius philosopher troll to chime in. Denial first then “even if that were the case” then complete ignorance of how our government works.

It’s irresistible to continually grade a leader’s accomplishments while in progress and especially at the end of the term, but realistically any analysis that might be considered final can only be made several years later when the long-term effects can be adequately assessed.

Behind every regulation is a crime so egregious that people cried, “No more!” If you don’t like regulation, don’t crime.

The train had a bad wheel bearing. SVB had poor management. Trump isn`t guilty of anything. California is flooding. Is Trump guilty? Mexico beat USA in the WBC. Is Trump guilty? The Fed is raising rates. Is Trump guilty. Inflation is 6%. Is Trump guilty?

Deregulation is so important; big businesses can ruin the economy all by themselves without regulation. /s

Barney Frank – co-sponsor of the Dodd-Frank bill – commented the law changes by Trump had nothing to do with SVB. It was bad corporate governance crushed by rising interest rates the devalued the bond portfolio.

The NTSB announced that the Norfolk Southern crash in East Palestine, Ohio was not the result of any law changes during the Trump administration.

Just like Obama spent 8 years blaming Bush, Biden will spend 4 years falsely blaming Trump.

“The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.” – John Kenneth Galbraith

“Historically, the conservative has favored liberty for the higher orders and constraint for the lower orders. What the conservative sees and dislikes in equality, in other words, is not a threat to freedom but its extension. For in that extension, he sees a loss of his own freedom. ‘We are all agreed as to our own liberty,’ declared Samuel Johnson. ‘But we are not agreed as to the liberty of others: for in proportion as we take, others must lose.’” – The Reactionary Mind

The worst IED Traitor Trump left behind was his cult, which is still active. When Traitor Trump is indicted for paying off Stormy Daniels, we shall see it explode.

Trump left us the Ukraine war. Biden is far from weak, but Hillary should be in her second term now, and Ukraine should be, and would be unharmed. Trump’s fanboy subservience is the reason Vlad was emboldened to invade. The world will never fully recover from the Trump years.

The first of Trump’s landmines to blow up was the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Remember who signed the unilateral full withdrawal with no input from the Afghan government and no real promises from the Taliban, then unilaterally, and not part of any agreement, reduced the number of US Troops to an unsustainable level, stopped fully processing SIV visas for more than a year, and let the Taliban take over more than half the country before he left office.

The withdrawal started soon after the Trump Administration signed the withdrawal at the end of February 2020. 80 percent of the troops were pulled out before Biden took office leaving the Administration with just 2,500 troops in all of Afghanistan and allowing the Taliban to overrun the country and prepare for an immediately overthrow of the government the second the US Troops left.

Trump left Biden with a Sophie’s choice: Complete the withdrawal, no matter how messy the Trump Administration has made it, or go back to full war footing . . .

The problem with the train was not funding track maintenance and the problem with the bank was that it was a terrible bank that made bad investments with other people’s money.
