And of course it is not mentioning the fact that Dilbert has been cancelled by just about everyone – taking away OUR personal right to decide for ouselves whether or not to read him! The largest depository of anti-Semitic literature in the world is kept in… Israel! Because they feel one should know one’s enemy.
Seeing and then discussing is better than not seeing at all. It is just as Fascist to cancel Dilbert as anything his creator ever said.
Scott Adams rants are almost a pathetical as George Bush’s question to the Brazilin President when he asked how they dealt with their large black populations; FYI the Brazilin President’s mother was of African descent; Made most of the world press except for the U.S.
More to the point how did WE never notice this before? Has he really kept his hate that well disguised, did his people manage to keep it quiet, or was there evidence that the media just didn’t cover? I knew he was a right winger and a trump backer but not that he was this far gone.
@Pogostiks By your logic, Hitler should be entitled to spew any lies he wants about the Jews AND be given a major public platform, whether or not anyone wanted to read him, or whether the platform itself objected to him. The first part is the First Amendment, the second is not.
Scott Adams has not been “canceled,” he announced his racism, which caused him to lose some papers, then doubled down on it and openly called for separation of the races, which caused him to lose his syndicate. This is called a consequence.
Scott Adams has his own platforms; no one has stopped him saying whatever he wants, whenever he wants. But his syndicate, and numerous newspapers, have chosen – as is their right – to stop printing him.
You can go find his website, you can watch his YouTube videos, and you can read his books. Nothing is stopping you. He can keep publishing Dilbert on his website the way he already does.
Are we canceling all cartoonist that imply or straight up say whites are racist? Or that GOP and conservatives are nazis? And the comments were about a poll that says 47% of black ppl dont think “its ok to be white” was a correct statement so whats with the nazi symbolism?
The USA is a multi-cultural, multi-religious, multi-gender society whose laws apply to everyone whether we are awake or asleep. Maybe it’s time that our Constitution spelled that out. If any citizens of this country disagrees with that, they should move elsewhere.
Canceling the Dilbert comic strip is a severe reaction, but people in the public sphere, even creative ones such as Scott Adams, should be cognizant of the influence they exert on their readers or followers. His statements were not just racist but (uncharacteristically, I would hope) quite stupid. If he dislikes watching videos of black criminals attacking whites, stop watching Fox News and Newsmax!
If one read the Dilbert website (until some time recently), one would not be surprised – Adams used to post alt-right rants there between the cartoons.
For those who don’t know, the phrase “It’s OK to be White” has been used as a racist dog whistle which is why some people are not cool with it. It’s not the concept itself, it’s the use of the phrase.
Mitchell noted that the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has labeled “it’s okay to be white” as a hate slogan, and the organization traced the phrase’s origins to a trolling campaign on the discussion forum 4chan.
“Whether the original trollers were white supremacist or not, actual white supremacists quickly began to promote the campaign—often adding Internet links to white supremacist websites to the fliers or combining the phrase with white supremacist language or imagery,” the ADL wrote.
For those curious about the actual poll questions and answers:
BLACK AMERICANS ONLY:“It’s okay to be white.”53% agree, 26% disagree, 21% not sure
“Black people can be racist, too”76% of agree, 27% disagree, 8% not sure.
@Pogostiks: “And of course it is not mentioning the fact that Dilbert has been cancelled by just about everyone – taking away OUR personal right to decide for ouselves whether or not to read him!”
There is no such thing as a “personal right” to force others to provide you with what you want to see. If there were, I could force you — or at least every media corporation — to publish everything that I would like to see.

Because Adams HAD been keeping his (racism/politics) away from the Dilbert strip. And still mostly is, by the way.

And apparently there was a misunderstanding with the poll results. Just 26% disagreed with the “It’s Ok to be White” statement, not “about half.”
