    Why does it matter now?

Why hasn’t it mattered since 1980?

Until the GOP accepts responsibility for inflation gthat debt by fighting 3 wars in the last 30 years and giving out trillions in unfunded tax cuts, they can shut their pie-hole about the spending Biden’s administration has done to ACTUALLY HELP THE COUNTRY.

An almost perfect cartoon for TFG’s administration*. The only flaw is the caption, it should read, “Let’s brag.”

Yes, it should be bragged about. The problem is that most infrastructure’s impact won’t be seen for years. But, in between we can all whine about delays going from here to there because of all of the construction. And, maybe, those doing the work can complain about Biden while they get their paychecks due to Biden.

As for the debt, the impact of NECESSARY updates could have been minimized if the process had started earlier when interest rates ran lower, but Trump’s “Infrastructure Week” never was anything but a joke.

As for Clinton: he could not have done it with out the previous administration’s tax hikes and the Gingrich House. Further, balancing the budget is a lousy term to use because all it really means is that the bills can be paid, it does not mean that the principal debt is being paid down, like everyone of us must eventually do with our debt.

The Congressional Budget Office warned the (then Republican) Congress about the Trump tax cuts costing too much. All the GOP ignored the warning — probably knowing in advance the next Prez would be a Democrat and they could demand spending cuts. Since those tax cuts had virtually no impact on me, I vote to restore the 2016 tax policy.

Without infrastructure, no need to worry about the debt or anything else, The country would shut down

It’s up to CONGRESS to handle the budget! However, to improve the grids, roads and crumbling bridges in America, one must make a move for improvements.

If left to GOP, nothing would be fixed, repaired or improved and we would all be driving on dirt roads!

European cities are so pristine and here we are, supposedly the greatest nation, crumbling and neglecting out infrastructure!

So I say to the GOP….STFU and deal with it!

That National Debt wouldn’t be nearly as big it it weren’t for all the past pork that was thrown in.

Please remember that 25% of that “sinkhole” was dredged during the last administration. 25% of ALL of the national debt, almost criminal. Yet all of the radical right wing legislators saw no problem with an addition to the debt at that time.

Raise taxes on the rich. This country created the opportunity for them to achieve what they have.

The National Debt brought to you by the Republican Party. Reagan tripled our debt. Bush2 tripled it again. tRump buried it.

Instead of increasing the cost of borrowing money, the government should take the approach of defunding unessential programs. It would reduce the size of the government and have the same effect of slowing/stopping of inflation. It would cause hardship on fewer people. I don’t think either party has demonstrated a willingness to combat inflation and balance the budget.

Republicans ran up the debt 25% with tax breaks for rich people who did zero for infrastructure.

The government doesn’t have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem.

Better the money be spent on infrastructure which improves the lives of most citizens than a tax break that benefits only the wealthy.

Any “Last of Us” fans here? Last weeks episode had a scene that encompasses this argument. Bill and Frank, two men who find love in the apocalypse. Bill is a prepper who basically hates people and Frank is, well, we don’t ever really find out what Frank did, but he is obviously someone who cares about appearances.

After three years together they are having a fight. Frank wants to paint the house and Bill doesn’t, he’s afraid it will attract people. Frank argues that attracting people is a good thing and it will show that they care about keeping things up. Frank wins, and they do attract people, two other characters who form a trade relationship. It also attracts raiders, but their trades have left them prepared. Later they are getting medicine to help with cancer.

So there you have it. The current spending argument boiled down to two gay men fighting over painting the house after the apocalypse.

So true, so true. You cannot keep spending and spending (no matter on what). This leads to inflation, recession and debt. Get the Dems out!!!!

You could have printed that cartoon 30 years ago and still would be dumb. The debt is NOT a threat to our well-being.

And if you want to do something about it, how about raising taxes? In relation to our GDP, we tax and spend at much lower rates than do other democracies. We could easily raise both and improve life for everyone in the country.

It’s a good thing we actually have an infrastructure to brag about. If Trump had won, we’d be “bragging” about all the wonderful tax cuts to the wealthy. Afterall all, those poor millionaires and billionaires need all the help they can get.
