What’s even scarier for me is my wife thinks that once Halloween is over, it’s time to set up the Christmas decorations and listen to the Christmas carols. I have to fight for my sanity every year.
The-Rav: What’s even worse, the local big local chain supermarket had the Christmas stuff up 3 weeks ago. All we do is lights a week before the holiday, and not if there is too much snow.

I have a “I remember when”!! Christmas decorations were not up until the day after Thanksgiving. I wish we could go back to that. Unfortunately, greed took over.

I know how you feel about wanting to clobber someone who says “Merry Christmas” before Nov 28, but you know - with the way the Liberalists, ACLU, etc. are trying to remove Christmas from the American way of life and certain stores advertising “Happy Holidays” and refusing to advertise “Merry Christmas”, I almost think I would be glad to hear someone say that!!!!!!! During the season, when someone says Happy Holidays to me, I always respond with “And a Merry Christmas to you!” I hear that mostly from store employees, not individual people.

Naturally! Store employess don't know your holiday practices, so they're instructed to be generic. In contrast, individuals on their own time may know you and know what you like, or they may just make assumptions.
Tobey: I wasn’t faulting store employees, as they are told what to say (or maybe lose their jobs). It’s sad that those who are trying to remove Christmas (who are also in the great minority) have made such strides, including removing The Salvation Army, Marine Toys for Tots, etc.
Tobey: I am surprised you aren’t aware of the attacks on Christmas! They (Liberalists, ACLU, atheists, etc.) complain about nativity scenes on school property, nativity plays in school, navitity scenes on government property, and other things that right now my senile memory can’t come up with, and they are winning! No one seems to have the spine to remind these organizations that America was founded on Judeo/Christian values and how it was our beginning. Notice how less you see “Merry Christmas” in stores, newspaper ads, etc. I just don’t understand why we, the majority Americans, should be forced to give in to those who don’t believe or practice Christmas. I agree, no matter what they force on us, Christmas will always be, nothing can change that. There’s just not enough space here, nor is it the proper place to have a good discussion conerning what has been happening the past few years.
Yeah, I'm aware that it's a violation of the First Amendment for government entities to put on religious displays, and that groups like the ACLU and Americans United will sue over that.
But that only applies to the government, not to stores. When private businesses say ‘Happy Holidays’, it's to be inclusive, not because atheists are going to sue them.

Some people likes to put up their outdoor Christmas decorations after Halloween because it’s a lot warmer than it is around Thanksgiving.
