All of those mothballed tanks should go to some use. Or will they send the brand new ones still rolling off the assembly line.

I hope the war is over before a year. Fingers crossed and all that.

This is all for show. What it does accomplish is allow the NATO countries to send their tanks which is the main goal of the whole thing. Those tanks will be there in time for the spring offensive and will make a major difference in the war.

There are two keys here. First, I read elsewhere (haven’t tracked down the source, alas), that American tanks are already on the way, which I suppose may not be true.

But secondly, and perhaps more importantly, our commitment unlocked the door for the rest of Europe to contribute, and they are able to deliver more quickly.

the pentagon had good reasons to be concerned about sending their tanks to ukraine. this is obviously biden’s effort to get the germans to send leopards which are a better fit and will get there sooner.

As everyone in position knows, the Russians will try another campaign in the spring after the mud season. They should have calculated how long it takes to deliver tanks, develop people and processes and resources for maintenance, training and deployment to the front lines AND THEN developed a date by which they would make the decision.

Hope they make it in time.
