When I refereed, I would often, in my instruction to the players tell them that the secret to avoid getting a caution or an ejection from me was to play to the 4Ps … 1) Play by the rules 2) Play the ball not the man 3) Pay attention to my whistle and most importantly, 4) Don’t pi… ah … Don’t perturb me!

Do colorists even READ the strip?

Andy is getting too old to both brawl and play so he’s got to decide before each game which one it will be.

I do recall one instance where I had to break up a fight between two opposing players prior to the match. While I couldn’t eject them from a match that hadn’t started, I did inform the coaches that, although neither team would be penalized for the misconduct of their player, in the interest of safety and fair play, I would not allow either player to participate.

I also had the dubious distinction of having to eject two young women from a tournament match for fighting … and they were on the same team! ( It had to do with one stealing the other’s with a boyfriend, naturally. )

You cannot raise a yellow card and call out a red card. You can get to a red if it is a second yellow, but you call it out that way.
