I lived in Silver City NM in my youth, in a house with carpets. We could shoot a spark almost 1/2 inch long if things were just right. My sibs and I were pretty good at the “sneaky shuffle” followed by touching someone’s ear… ↯SNAP↯
One method I use to discharge static electricity is to press the edge of my palm against a screw in a light switch panel. Still the same amount of shock, but you feel it less.
I remember one time in LA when the reported humidity was “less than 1%”. Their technology for measuring it couldn’t read any lower than 1%, but the actually percentage was still moving when it hit “bottom”.

Helpful hint. Got a ring? Or maybe a key? Reach for anything metal with that leading the way. It’ll take the shock instead of your tender flesh.

“For my birthday I got a humidifier and a de-humidifier… I put them in the same room and let them fight it out.”

And here I’m running a dehumidifier because I don’t like mold in my basement.

Anywhere from 2" to 8" of snow forecast for tomorrow. Been pretty dry in NE PA this winter, just like last one (4" total at most).

This is why I never build a computer in the winter. I do it in summer under high humidity!!

Now she doesn’t need the coffee. Really like the ways her bun detaches when she’s surprised. I think it looks cooler now when it’s all fuzzed.

Hey, at least it re-heated her coffee…

Humans can be accurately described as big bags of salty water. We make excellent grounds.

I can honestly say I’ve never seen the words “dry January” together before. And my area’s been rainy this month.

I have a pair of Croc slippers that build up enough charge to draw an arc from a foot away.
