At last, Peanuts daily 1975 strips finally resume after being replaced by 1969 strips thanks to the pre Thanksgiving GoComics.com site shutdown. But is that 1975 Peppermint Patty/Marcie week long football related arc not ever going to be rerun at all unless the Snoopy practicing skating for the Olympics few day arc appears tomorrow?

The year of 1066 was 900 years before Peppermint Patty first appeared in the Peanuts comic strip.

1066? The Battle of Hastings. Saw it on the History Channel a while back.

King Harald Hardrada of Norway was killed at the Battle of Stamford Bridge while invading England. So were lots of his troops: the Norwegians arrived in 300 ships, but only 24 ships were needed to carry away the survivors.

Quite a few things happened. DHBirr mentions the failed Norwegian invasion of England that immediately preceded the successful Norman one. But I suspect that many things happened that didn’t involve the British Isles.

I do remember studying 1066 a very long time ago. So I remember the year, but not why I should remember it!!

1066 you ask? Yes I know what happened in 1066, the French and the English met at Hastings field for a ball game. The French won the game 5 – 4. The English shortstop muffed a double play allowing the French runner to score the winning run in the top of the 9th. Sadly the English were at the bottom of their batting order and Harold struck out leaving a man on base, ending the game.

The only thing I can think of is that Normans conquered England.

Hmmm…now I’m curious about what Peppermint Patty knows about what happened at 1066 the address, and exactly where is 1066…

I believe the question is moot without specifying “where”.

I think she said 1066 AD, the year that William the Conqueror conquered England and became it’s first really instated king. Just a thought.

If it was an address, the teacher would have asked, “What happened On 1066?”

I know! I know! My ancestor William, Duke of Normandy, was crowned King of the English on Christmas Day at Westminster Abbey.
