I like soccer a lot, but people should save their gray-hair getting for real problems, like the war in Ukraine, RWNJs taking over the government, etc., etc.
I just can’t get into a sport where players fake dying on the pitch every 5 mins. So boring it takes a fan riot to be interesting. That and the joke of playing in Berlin in 1936 or close to it. We take the most WOKE sport we have and send them to Qatar to play…no rainbows no cleavage or beer for the common fan…=joke.
Generally speaking, if you don’t understand the game you won’t care about it (apart from “U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!” interest).

I’ve had friends (from Turkey, from Ireland, from elsewhere) who care very much about soccer, and so I’ve watched a fair amount over the years, and I had to watch a lot of it before I could understand when to be excited and when not to be. I still can’t really enjoy watching a game if I don’t have a reason to root for one team over the other (and that’s true for American football, baseball, basketball, hockey, curling, whatever), but now when I watch I can understand a lot more of the skills, athleticism, and strategy than I could when I went to see USA vs Brazil in the 1994 World Cup (we lost 0-1, on the Fourth of July, but still… U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!).

Well, 500 died to build that stadium and I’ll bet they wished to live long enough to get gray hairs!!

Too bad politics have to be inserted into everything these days!
Vile treatment of human beings is still prevalent in Muslim nations. Much like in Saudi Arabia, NK, Russia, Syria, Iran, China, etc.
This is what happens when the people are ruled by fascist, ignorant leaders and dictators! There IS no DEMOCRACY!
Think about that! This is exactly what it would be like should the GOP and trump were elected. Women’s rights DOWN THE TUBES! ☹️
It took over 100 years, and many deaths to gain the right to vote. ☹️
Now they took away a woman’s right to choose. ☹️
This is 2022…GOP will hurl us back to the 1800’s if WE the People let them! ‼️☹️

I am keeping the grey hairs I have and not watching. I have my reasons that are too long to list here.

Supporting soccer somehow seems amoral nowadays. And unethical.

Is that a Brazilian couple? No one in the USA feels like that about soccer, no one I have met yet anyway.
