Hard to put a “like” on this one. How appalling that sportscasters, people in the public eye, on national television, can say such stupid juvenile things.
There’s obvious ignorance. Do these guy even know what their first names mean? One is the bearer of the annointed one, and the other is just a guy. One comes from a saint who carries the Christ child across the waters, and the other comes from the first emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.
Wichita State fan here. I was watching the game and couldn’t believe it when this actually happened. Poor Bear and the announcers meet the next day, and they not only issued a written apology but also apologized profusely on the air in the WSU game the next day. Hopefully through this more people will be educated and people will also see what an incredible young man Isaiah is.
It’s not that bigotry and ridicule are dead, and these apostates have re-animated the evil ones - we all know prejudice and discrimination are very much alive, needing but the slightest encouragement from public facing opinion to grow and prosper -
It’s that we do know all this and deliberately choose to do it.
“woke”, much like ‘politically correct’, is simply showing consideration for your fellow American. conservatives try to demonize those terms. Ethnic slurs are based in ignorance. Why would any real American oppose showing consideration to fellow Americans?
Makes me glad that I rarely, if ever, watch the big money making college/professional sports. These are the kind of guys that vote Republican so they can be openly awful, and not ridiculed for being positively awful. Chris and Chick are all too typical of male humans that never grew up past about 10 or 12 years old. Just sad and pathetic really.
They met with Isaiah Poor Bear-Chandler the following Tuesday and “apologized” for their remarks. The “apology” reads like something the CBS Legal Department wrote up. It probably was. CBS won’t do anything as they are income-producing “assets” for the company and ESPN/Disney might just snap them up.
I didn’t hear what was said, and it may have been a bit juvenile, but it probably wasn’t an ethnic slur since Pooh is one of the most beloved characters of all time.

Is Chick short for anything or were his parents wanting a bimbo when he was born?

If Isaiah does become famous he’s going to have hand cramps signing autographs on game days.

There is apparently a clown car somewhere that continues to disgorge willfully oblivious idiots like these two. . .

This is the mindset of people who would tell Native Americans to “Go Back Where You Came From” so the “Real Americans” don’t have to deal with them.

Takes me back to Don Imus and the Rutgers women’s basketball thing. These two should get the same treatment as Imus did.
