I’ll take on two of them.

“I want school board protesters listed as domestic terrorists”. When the protesters attack and threaten school board members, they are domestic terrorists. Yes it happens.

“I want my political opponents called racists and Nazis”. When you see Nazi flags and t-shirts with “6 million wasn’t enough” at MAGA rallies/riots. When the former president dines with racists. The jackboot fits.

Republicans are against free speech calling it “Woke”. Yelling fire in a crowded theater is not free speech nor is malicious lying.

This should be titled – Lies Republicans Tell Themselves (and everyone else).

Most of this list is either flat out incorrect or else quite misleading. I will discuss just one which has a slight basis in reality: “I want someone else to pay my student debt”. I don’t have any student debt, and I never did, so it’s not that I want anyone to pay my debt when i don’t have one. But I do see that a lot of students in the US are left with a really crippling debt load when they graduate. I don’t see that as an individual problem, I see it as a social problem deserving a social solution. Our public educational system is free from kindergarten through grade twelve, why not have a free system though to the end of an undergraduate degree (or equivalent vocational training)? I’m not saying that all colleges should be free (nor should all primary and secondary schools be free) but in every state there should be a good publicly funded college system which is free to all who qualify.

This toon expresses what most see and believe. Good job of the exercising of free speech rights. Of course others will claim this is a toon of lies because it’s from a conservative and will automatically disagree with it regardless. As far as honesty in editorial cartoons, this is an opinion piece that cartoonists like Clay Jones and Britt openly exploit in the most radically gross misleading view possible and call it truth.

A JURY HAS returned two guilty verdicts in the Jan. 6 Oath Keepers trial, convicting founder Stewart Rhodes and fellow militia member Kelly Meggs.

The historic verdict — the most serious yet secured in relation to the events of Jan. 6 — was nonetheless mixed. Alleged co-conspirators Jessica Watkins, Thomas Watkins, and Kenneth Harrelson were found not guilty of sedition. Meggs and Watkins were, however, found guilty of the lesser charge of conspiring to disrupt the counting of the votes of the Electoral College.All five prosecuted members of the militia group were found guilty on charges of obstructing an official proceeding. Four of the five, including Rhodes, were found guilty of “tampering with documents or proceedings and aiding and abetting.”

Throughout the trial, which opened on Oct. 4, the government alleged that Rhodes and his subordinates committed “seditious conspiracy” by working to block, by force, the peaceful transfer of power from Donald Trump to Joe Biden. The defendants also faced lesser charges that they conspired to disrupt the official proceedings of the joint session of Congress to certify the votes of the Electoral College.

Sedition is rarely prosecuted, and convictions are even rarer.

The Oath Keepers are a conspiratorial militia group that recruits heavily from former-military and law enforcement personnel. The militia began as fiercely anti-government, coping a defensive posture against fever-swamp-nightmares that federal authorities could turn entire cities into internment camps.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday went further than McCarthy, condemning Trump’s meeting with Fuentes, opening his weekly press conference by rejecting not only “antisemitism” and “white supremacy” but saying Trump’s association with the ideologies could keep him from winning a second term in the White House.

“There is no room in the Republican Party for antisemitism or white supremacy,” McConnell said, flanked by Republican Senate leadership. “And anyone meeting with people advocating that point of view, in my judgment, are highly unlikely to ever be elected president of the United States.”
