Most first world nations do provide their citizens with the education needed regardless of their family wealth but based on abilities. However, this cartoon is missing the mark because athletic scholarships are very common in US universities, unlike other nations’ schools, due to a failure to recognize the function of higher education.

Absolutely incorrect. In all cases except for the one in Texas in which the judge ordered a nationwide halt to the program, the judges ruled that those bringing the cases had no standing and refused to hear the case. The Texas judge flouted the law.

It’s not unconstitutional until the Supreme court weighs in.

One Texas judge is against it, what a jerk. Texans are still in the fascist party.

Overall, I think student debt is a tremendous drag on the economy, financially crippling people in what would be their most productive working years. If debt is canceled we’ll see if I’m right…

God forbid that ANY Republican would actually vote for legislation that would help students with loans.

Or, that would help anyone, except the wealthy.

It’s not unconstitutional, but it helped mostly average folks and the poor. Which to Republicans is a crime. Republicans think money should only go to money, as they did with the PPP/PPE handouts. Not sure why they called them loans, as no one planned to pay them back. Handout to the wealthy more on target.

In this day and age, public education really needs to be through Associates degree and cover virtually all trade schools. As a start the student loan rules could be changed back to what they were back in the Eighties. The for profit lenders have paid Congress to make the terms predatory. Student loan’s interest should not be compounded daily as they are on some of these loans. I can buy a new car with better terms than most of these loans the students get stuck with.
