I see the Dolphins had to go to their 3RD quarterback during the Jets game…

Even football at the high school level is tough. I know of so many people my age who have ‘old football injuries’ they have to deal with in their 60’s.

When an athlete gets an injury that prevents them from playing again, they’re left with no path or destination, especially when they don’t have any other skills to speak of.

I was kind of disappointed when Gronk returned to playing when Brady asked him to join Tampa Bay. I love the guy, and was so happy to see that he had banked all of his NFL salary, and was retiring young, with comparatively few injuries. He had it made.

I worked in several jobs where injuries were common, but we didn’t get multi-million dollar pay.

A lot of people think the athlete has it easy with all the money they get. However, there are drawbacks such as injury and the age limit they have in the sport they are in. What they’re making financially, goes towards what might happen in their future.

TB12 took a hit yesterday, refs called it roughing the passer, and the guy in the booth called it a bad call and ranted on-n-on about it.

It’s a game they’ve played since they were kids. It got them a free college “education” and offers to pay them big bucks (far more than they can earn otherwise) and make them famous for a few years instead of being an anonymous worker somewhere. I can understand it would be hard to resist. Like many young people they consider themselves immortal to death or severe injury.

Is it me or have there been more injuries than usual in this early season? Seems like at a minimum someone is getting hurt every game.

I recently saw some Rugby footage, and that looked pretty d*mn violent, especially with no padding, helmets, etc. Are there similar injuries in Rugby, or has nobody looked?

Great QB. Injuries kept him from playing well. Ended his career by tearing his hamstring in his last training camp. Spent his rookie contract on homes and cars for his family. And basically blew through all of his NFL money. Had to camp out in someone’s home in Regina for his last comeback because he had no money. But that degree from UT will come in handy, right? Right? (You want to make money in the NFL? Convince the league to hire you to teach basic financial planning to a bunch of 22 year olds who buy a new Escalade every year, thinking it’s a good car.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vince_Young

Maybe the Saudi’s can do an LIV version of American Football instead of golf? Dump Norman’s crowd and go with whomever’s willing to run it for players??
