I think the missing point in finances and inflation is the cost of heat and electricity that are going to hit people this winter far harder than the gas price hikes did. It’s not going to be pretty.
My electric rate has doubled. Propane has gone up 30% this year. Hard times they are a coming.
Has Davies been to a shopping “mall” or a store ( like a ‘Costco’ ) recently? He might notice that his ‘picture’ is gloomier than ‘on-the-ground reality.’
The exaggeration in this cartoon is supposed to be funny? Seems more like Varvel than Davies today. BTW, the gas & electric company here in upstate charges as much for distribution (a fixed cost) as it does for supply (the gas and electric demand – variable cost). Also, an annoying aspect of the current rate increase is that the utility claims the state’s utility control agency “ordered” the increase. The reality is that the state agency reviewed the utility’s exorbitant increase request and allowed a much smaller rate increase. OK, end of rant . . .
Perhaps to keep prices low, we can follow Britain’s example. Truss and company are going to borrow hundreds of millions of pounds to give to the energy companies so those companies don’t raise prices too much this winter.

Our summer A/C bill is about the same as winter heating. Spring and Fall, we get a break.

Too bad that so many of our "representatives ’ are in energy companies pocket. Otherwise, something might get done.
