Native Americans are bothered that their names being used for sports teams. But they only make about 1.5% of the population, so who cares? Right?

Exactly what the Creeks and Cherokees were saying while walking the Trail of Tears away from their native Atlanta area.

I guess I haven’t been keeping up with this. What’s the problem with Braves? Is that considered some kind of slur against Native Americans?

BTW. It’s not the “woke” warriors that want the teams to stop using Native Americans as mascots. It’s the actual Native Americans who find it offensive.

It’s a bunch of nonsense. Demoncrats have a LOT more to worry about than a sports team’s name. Geez.

I thought Native Americans would like being called brave. Because they were brave.

We could eliminate all references to Native Americans across the country, and it too easy to erase their history.

Are you suggesting that this is what modern indigenous people look like? Are you that out of touch?

The Braves mascot and the “tomahawk chop” are both stereotyping indigenous people as being stuck in the past, or even worse, something that doesn’t exist anymore. And this comic shows that you also feel this way.

In a sense… you have proven that there is a problem.

So….halting the use of Native American imagery is somehow taking away from them?

Have any of you PC lefties thought to research about what the First Americans think about their use as symbols for our sports teams? More than 80% have no problem with this imagery. The now removed profile of a NA for the Washington Redskins was designed by a council member of the Blackfeet tribe, was supported by Blackfeet chiefs and was voted in approval by the Blackfeet tribe in general. The profile is a composite of many chiefs of the tribe but is generally accepted to be derived from Chief Two Guns White Calf.

kacklin’ rosie would like us to believe that everything in the world is a-ok just like it is in her imaginary rightwing fantasy, but if you check things out in a bit more detail you find that that’s not at all the case and that the real world is a bit more nuanced. and, although she of course doesn’t mention it, there were plenty of member of the blackfeet nation who were against the racist football mascot, including the son of the guy who designed it…

Survey says…Most Native Americans are NOT offended by it. That has been shown again and again. But that does not help wokies with their virtual signalling, soooo……

The teams should pay the tribes licensing fees instead.
