I would postulate that the Russian “military” probably thinks that a "nuclear " war is “winnable” as long as they could keep the number of “bombs” down to a reasonable number – remember, large swaths of Russia do not believe that N.A.T.O. would actually come to the aid of Ukraine in the event of a major escalation by Russia.

Remember, also, the Russian military have “bunkers”…

And those “bunkers” are proof against the worst that N.A.T.O. can throw at them…

And N.A.T.O. wouldn’t actually go to war to help protect a former Soviet state, anyway, in their estimation…

And they DO have their “bunkers”…

So don’t expect a voice of reason to be raised by the Russian military – that voice very probably does not and never has existed.

Please note how successful America has been in its expectation that SOMEONE would step forward out of the republican party to refute and temper the demented “voice” of Donld John Trump.

See how well the “Voice of Reason” worked in tempering the “crazies” in America – it “ain’t” gonna work any better in Russia…

It’s scary to think about this guy having the power to start WWIII with that button …I mean…look… what’s to stop him … He is at the end of his life, he wants a bigger place in history, he wants the legacy of “make Russia greatest again”, he’s a narcissistic dictator, no one who opposes him lives a long life….nope…. it’s big time scary.

Just posted this on another ’toon, seems to work here too. The Russian Army, supposedly one of the strongest on Earth, seems very good at killing unarmed innocents in defenseless city’s, towns and villages, from distant firing positions aiming at civilian targets. Once they face an actual well equipped and motivated military they dissipate like vodka on a hot street. Why would any Russian youth want to join that? Why does Putin think they’ll preform any better than all of his now dead elite corps?

Trump truly had a button in the Oval Office that he used to order Diet Cokes. However, this call button wasn’t the invention of the Trump administration. Photographs show that former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush also had service buttons in the Oval Office that they could use in a similar fashion.

It should also be noted that Biden still has access to this usher call button and photographs show him in the Oval Office with this button on his desk. It’s unclear how Biden will use this service button, but he will be able to use it, like his predecessor, to order Diet Cokes or anything else available at the White House.

The “nuclear button” is a figurative term referring to the power to use nuclear weapons and it is often depicted as a large red button. However, for most of the countries that actually have ability to use nuclear weapons, the procedure to actually launch nuclear missiles is much more complex. I’m not sure anyone knows Moscow’s procedure.

Presidents, like other heads of state, business executives, etc. frequently have ‘call buttons’ to summon aides, etc. Desk phones, like hotel phones, [at least used to] have a series of call buttons which could be punched to get a specific person or service.

Several US Presidents have had a red call button in the Oval Office of the White House that could call aides. The earliest known usage of a “call button” was LBJ who had a series of keys to summon different drinks to the Oval Office, Cabinet Room, and the lounge next to the Oval Office. The four keys, which were located on a table behind the President’s desk, were for coffee, tea, Coke, and Fresca. When pressed an aide would fulfill the president’s drink request.

President George W. Bush changed from keys to a large red button, located on the Resolute desk, and used it to summon White House staff.

President Obama reportedly repurposed it to order tea for his White House guests.During Donald Trump’s presidency, when pressed, the large red button would summon a butler who would bring a Diet Coke on a silver platter. Several reports say that he also used it to request lunch and to pull pranks on visitors. He told one reporter that ‘everyone thinks it is the nuclear button and get a little nervous . . .’

That large red button was removed at some point either when or shortly after Trump left the White House. It reappeared several weeks into the Biden Presidency, but its current use is not known.

Trump once asked the military, "Why do we even have nukes if we’re not going to use them.’. Who do you think he learned it from?

Actually, the US has ICBMs with specialized warheads called mountain crackers for such bunkers.
