I’m a former Quartermaster. So you need kit, and winter is coming and you’ll need winter clothes, housing, medical, transportation, field rations and of course body bags. This takes 300,000 out of a faltering economy. Some of those will no doubt be single parents, so how does he handle that?
It’s so not going well for Putin and his war of atrocities. If he does go nuclear that’s the end of Russia as it will be obliterated by a western response. As far as his nuclear arsenal is concerned, those weapons need a high level of maintenance and replacement of key elements and parts. For example, one basic element of an H-bomb is Tritium which has a half-life of about 12 years and needs to be replace long before that. With the collapse of the USSR Russia suffered a massive brain drain of scientists and high tech workers, especially in its nuclear industry. I don’t believe that Putin’s nuclear arsenal is in any better shape than his conventional forces and arguably its worse.

So he’s calling up 300,000 troops.

Even Russian news are bringing up the MAD doctrine. Unfortunately, that only works if there are no madmen at the helm.
