    I happened to be drying my hair yesterday, and chanced to look at my knees. Head bent over. When did they get replaced by my father’s knees? And the skin? what happened?

    My right knee gives me a little trouble sometimes, usually movement works it out

    When it doesn’t I keep working anyway, just slower than usual

    I can certainly empathize with today’s strip. Both of my knees have been operated on twice each (because of on the job injuries) and each day when I go for my brisk walk…well, I’m just glad when I get home and can take a couple of ibuprofen.

    Oddly enough, for all we do it, I don’t really think there is any part of my body that likes running. It’s a pretty much universally loathed experience in my life. The only good thing about running is stopping.

    I don’t know why, but drawings like those knees gross me out. I have the same problem with a certain ad on my iPhone — it starts off with sores on a foot, and I have to turn away immediately.

    Literally just got back from a strenuous bike ride. Don’t run/jog if you don’t want to have knee problems later in life. Low impact is the way to go.

    Same here—darn arthritis in both (and I am just 54), I walk 5 miles a day and tried to start just jogging, and about collapsed in pain. So I just walked home and took the darn Celebrex. Funny how I can walk, but not jog or run without pain.

    Way back in third grade had a virus in my left leg & I missed most of the school year – after dad telling me “walk on it, it will get better” doctor said that I had to avoid walking on it as much as possible. It eventually did get better & in later school years if anything came up & the teacher said “you should know this – you learned it in elementary school” I always figured it was taught in third grade & I missed it.

    While in high school I fell off a curb while I was at a club meeting at someone’s house – a supervising adult decided we had been cooped up & sitting too long & sent us out for a run) & I tore “something” in my ankle. In days before current scanning abilities – X-rayed it – not broken, so “something” was ripped – tendon or ligament. Had to wear an ankle brace – meaning an Ace bandage sewn into the shape of a figure 8. I can walk on it for miles & can run on it if I could run (too fat, too old) now. But every now & then it acts up. Have to rotate my foot until the ankle “pops” to make it feel better.

    I can live with all of this – but over the years I have developed a problem with a “charlie horse” in the back of my (same) left calf. Normally comes & goes in a few minutes – I will jump out of bed to stand holding onto my dresser near the bed while I bounce up & down on it until it ends. Big problem though, is twice since the start of the pandemic the charlie horse shows up during the day and does NOT leave. Second time was last week as I approached the top of the stairs to come down. I have reached the point where I can go up the stairs with little pain walking up them up normally, but coming down I still need to step with both feet on each step, holding the banister with one hand and bracing the other hand on the wall on the other side of the steps. Husband has had to carry a lot of things for me as I can’t carry things down the stairs while holding banister and wall. Hope it ends soon.
