The GQP screwed themselves with the June anti-American, anti-choice decision.
But now that they’ve tipped their hand revealing the lie (which we already knew) about “We don’t want to restrict abortion at the Federal level”, the GQP is (hopefully) doubly screwed!
For decades the focus of the GOP has been on how to hurt anyone they disagree with and how to hold onto power so that they can hurt anyone they do not disagree with. To do something for the good of the country is a completely foreign concept to the GOP.
This is especially true since Reagan allowed the Evangelicals to influence the GOP. Now the differences between the GOP and the Taliban are mostly cosmetic.
The illustrious Mike Pence commented yesterday that the GOP getting control over women’s bodies was a much more important goal than any short-term political gains they might make this November.
If “You can grab them by the p#ssy” didn’t concern the women of the GQP THEN the fact that if they get pregnant, maybe they’re trying to get pregnant, and then after 6 or 12 or 15 weeks their doctors discover some major medical issue with the fetus AND refuses to take action because the medical staff doesn’t want to go to jail or get sued MIGHT cause them to rethink their allegiances. Might happen.
The Trump former employee now on The View repeated the same lie that anti-choice people have been repeating for YEARS. They pretend that there weren’t any restrictions on abortions in Roe v Wade by ignoring the specifics about fetal viability for abortions by choice and later abortions for specific medical reasons. There is currently a woman that cannot get an abortion even though her fetus (that she WANTED) doesn’t have a skull.
People need to actually read the entire Roe v Wade decision. I took a class that covered several SCOTUS decisions and that was one of them. In my work group, there was someone that completely was against the decision, and I and another woman in the group argued with him about this. When he picked this as the case he was going to cover for his final presentation, imagine our surprise when he said that after actually reading the case with an open mind he realized that this issue had a fair and reasoned review and that the decision was valid.

Ironically it is those who go on about morality who are the least moral of all. It’s a great way of knowing who the creeps and bigots are.

So the repugs have gone all in on anti-choice. I’ll be curious to see if this helps them, hurts them, or has almost no effect one way or the other.

“Maybe I didn’t think this through.” Well, the modern GOP has a long history of doing that. . . .
