A friend of mine was telling me a story about when he was in school and had volunteered to wash the blackboards after class. (Kids, ask your grandparents about that.)
My friend had a sponge and a pail of water and he started to swing the pail and observe how the water stayed in the pail. So he thought that if he swung the pail hard and fast enough he could swing it in a full circle over his head and the water wouldn’t fall out. He swung the pail back and forth a couple of times and then went for the final swing. Just as the pail was swinging over his head the classroom door opened as the teacher walked in and the door hit the pail, showering both of them with chalky water. Science experiment over!
I remember doing stuff like this as a kid. Trying to swing as high as you possibly can in hopes of actually swinging over the bar. That, and getting on the tire swings and merry go rounds and spinning around on each of them as fast as you can until you get to the point where you get a headache and are on the verge of puking. Good times for sure.
We would swing as high as we could and then jump off and try to land in our sandbox. We made it about half the time, but no bones were ever broken. This was back when kids could play without being ‘supervised’ all the time, i.e. The Good Old Days.

Thank goodness he didn’t make it over. He’d have turned inside-out if he had.

Keven needs to brush up on his math and physics after he recovers.

Could have been worse. Could have straddled the bar…

Not letting go of the ropes might have helped … a little, anyway.

If he had made it, he’d probably have landed in an alternate reality.
