Kids can sometimes get a little carried away with things when they play. That’s part of what parent’s are for.

I remembered reading this one before and I see from the last panel that it’s another repeat from 2019 whereas the daily strips are new ones again.

Earlier this week, a comment about Red’s brother Martin and the negative stereotypes of teenagers which goes back at least as far as the Hippy era led me to comment on Shaggy Rogers in Scooby Doo as one of the more likeable portrayals of a hippy. The original commentator replied that Shaggy is more of a 1950s beatnik than a hippy. That may be true but, as I commented this week, Shaggy was frequently referred to as a hippy in the two-season series Shaggy And Scooby Doo Get A Clue. Dr Phineas Phibes kept referring to Scooby and Shaggy as “the dog and the hippy boy” and even Scooby saw Shaggy as a hippy as he revealed in one episode that he’d had another hippy owner before Shaggy. The previous owner was more of a stereotypical hippy than Shaggy as he had long hair, a beard and a guitar.

Thank goodness Rover had his ID tag on! And Red…take more caution. Although Rover is smart and could probably find his way home anyway.

Yeah, but Rover LOVES to go for a ride in the car! Or at least my Abby does.

Note the tear in Red’s eye in that last panel … Thank goodness (and Mom, and a Good Samaritan citizen, and a dog tag with ID) for the happy ending.

Me thinks Rover’s going to need a nap after that one.

So we’re not going to have a “Rover, Come Home” arc?

My nephew has Apple air tags on his dogs so he can locate them on his phone . . . just in case.
