Liz Cheney lost her bid to run as a Republican, which is what Trump was campaigning for.
If the voters had chosen someone better (a low bar in general, though in the GOP primary, maybe not so much) I’d have been very happy to hear of it. As it is, I’m hoping that Wyoming comes to its sense by November. But I fear not.
Buttercup has shattered the illusion that the US is a land that nurtures individual freedom and initiative for every person. He and those who follow him have brought their once glossed over bigotry and divisiveness into the open. It will take generations to overcome.
But perhaps it is just time for this to happen. This could be the time for us to acknowledge our differences, accept them as the bond that strengthens us, and, eventually, to show the world that our projected image is not just an advertising slogan but a reality.
There won’t be a civil war. Take a look at some of the interviews at a Trump event; his followers are all stupid, ill-informed idiots. They don’t have the ability to organize or fight a war. They took over the Capitol on Jan 6th and had no idea what to do with it once they had it. Stochastic and individual violence, sure, but that’s a far as it will go.
Be loyal to Trump, and Trump will be loyal to you. (If you want that to be true, then it is. Don’t believe what you saw happen to other people). You can depend on Trump to take care of you once he no longer has need for you. It’s only a matter of HOW he’ll take care of you.
If only there was reciprocity in the relationship, I could maybe understand it a bit better. Using people to fluff his own sense of self has been his m.o. for decades. Look at all the “support” he’s giving to those charged in the Jan 6th insurrection. “Pay no attention to my former acolytes going to prison; please donate to MY defense fund or the bad guys will win”
“The time is fulfilled for the German people of Hitler. It is because of Hitler that Christ, God the helper and redeemer, has become effective among us… Hitler is the way of the Spirit and the will of God for the German people to enter the Church of Christ." —German pastor Hermann Gruner
Democrats are only about 10% of Wyoming voters. You’re going to need a lot of Republicans who still care more about the country than they do about Trump. Good Luck!
Argument ad populum -the two proven methods to get the masses to vote for you: 1: build a campaign of fear of “outsiders” (aka GOP way), 2: tell voters you’ll solve every problem they mention (aka Boris Johnson way). Do not attempt to educate voters or tell them the truth; that seldom works.
We need a constitutional amendment To prevent states from having more senators than congresspersons. States with tiny populations have disproportionately high representation in the legislative branch and especially in the electoral college.
I saw an old newsreel, from the 1920s. The reel was showing movies of the Ku Klux Klan. At one point they were marching in the formation of a Christian cross (it seems Christian nationalist have been around for quite a while. The best shot was of a Klansman holding up a sign that said…wait for it…Make America Great Again." I guess we have the proverbial “history repeating itself.”

There is no advanced industrial democracy in the world more politically divided, or politically dysfunctional, than the United States today.

Maybe the sign should say “Save America from Trump.” Just my two cents.
