Of course, every Republican in past campaigns stated that we should just collect the taxes already on the books, go after the tax-dodgers, instead of enacting new taxes. Just enforce the laws already on the books.
Want to drive 100mph? Go right ahead the odds of being stopped are very low. Now if we added speed “auditors” to rein in those cheaters the odds of being stopped would go up. As would compliance to the law.
Maybe some of those millionaires, and billionaires, that pay few if any taxes will finally get caught. Which reminds me did we ever get to see all of Trump’s tax returns?
I saw Republicans screaming that is a waste of money. Of course the 2 to 3 TRILLION spent on phony wars by Bush were not. I have to keep bringing this up as Republican memories are very short.
One day, christian conservatives will be forced to realize that choosing to be a Republican instead of a decent human being was not the right decision for them, their children, and their future.
Corporations and so called conservative financial investors would be living in Utopia if there was no IRS. Cheating to win would be so easy with no oversight, or ethics. Cheating to win is the new GOP normal.
Better than the Republican’s plan to steal American’s Social Security and Medicare/aid money to fund their tax cuts for the rich, that don’t need tax cuts. They are rich, why the heck do rich people need tax cuts? Especially, as they never pay tax on their entire income, having elected themselves plenty of tax dodge schemes. Seriously, private planes and jets are a tax write off? How about being able to write off my expenses for commuting to work? Which actually makes more sense than tax write off for pampered rich people and their private jets.
With limited resources, the IRS went after “low hanging fruit”, people that committed minor infractions (maybe even honest mistakes) that don’t have a team of lawyers and accountants to fight any charges. Not much ventured and not much gained. The IRS needs to be funded and backed up enough to go after the big fish. What are you afraid of Michael?
Being audited will become a normal part of the whole tax experience for all Americans if this holds up after the elections. Better make sure you report that yard sale income and profit from the lemon-aid stand you backed with seed money. I was audited for years it really isn’t that bad as long as you don’t mind being questioned, doubted and fined.
To quote our brilliant POTUS…“Look. here’s the deal. No joke”. The concerns of everyday Americans continue to be…Inflation, price of gas, price of groceries, recession, crime, southern border. Can you guess how many of these concerns are addressed in this monstrosity? If you answered ZERO, you win.

I have yet to hear a valid argument from the Republican Party regarding this act.
