Reminds me of what used to happen with my parents…“Mom, can I go over to Davids house?”..“Ask your dad”….“Dad, can i go over to Davids house”…“Ask your Mother”….which at that point I just went ahead and left.
“You don’t need anything except this (he picks up an ashtray) and that’s it and that’s the only thing you need, is this. You don’t need this or this. Just this ashtray. And this paddle game (picks it up and hands it to her), the ashtray and the paddle game and that’s all you need. And this remote control. The ashtray, the paddle game and the remote control, and that’s all you need. And these matches. The ashtray, and these matches, and the remote control and the paddle ball. And this lamp. The ashtray, this paddle game and the remote control and the lamp and that’s all you need. And that’s all you need. You don’t need one other thing, not one – (sees something) You need this! The paddle game, and the chair, and the remote control, and the matches, for sure. Well what are you looking at? What do you think I am, some kind of a jerk or something? And this! And that’s all you need. The ashtray, the remote control, the paddle game, this magazine and the chair. And you don’t need one other thing except your dog, Puddles. The ashtray, the remote control, the paddle game, this magazine, the chair, and your dog, Puddles…”
Nancy has reached that age where your daughter’s sweet and cute behaviour no longer deceives you. It’s normal and a little sad too. I hope Luann may still be able to play that silly card with her father.
Even as a young adult, LuAnn still goes to the second parent with the same question when she doesn’t get the answer(s) she wants from the first parent. A further sign she hasn’t matured as much as she should be for her age.
In panel 1 & 4 she looks so sweet & sincere! Her (hot) mom sees right through it. Will Dad? I think we are required to write our own endings to this one.
To clean your room would be a dream come true! I don’t know what it is about teenagers having such a messy room,me Ihad two older sisters we all shared a room!!!
Luann is obviously trying to get something for a ridiculous price, or that’s just ridiculous, and make it seem as though it was a parent’s idea. Didn’t fool Nancy for a second, lol. I hope Frank is equally wise to Luann’s trickery.
You know, I’ve noticed in the recent (like give or take a month) comics with these parents, their wedding rings are more obvious. Maybe it nothing, but to me it seems more deliberate.
