New York is a “sanctuary city”. Let them provide it.

Instead of spending the money on poor children’s health care or something, Abbott is spending TAXPAYER money, essentially to dis the President of the United States.

What’s the problem? NYC is a sanctuary city, after all. They should be welcoming these folks with open arms.

Abbott receives HUGE amounts of money because of the tree that fell on him that caused his paralysis. Wasn’t that an “act of God”? Abbott has worked to limit others from getting lawsuit payments.

New York should bus all their homeless to Texas.

It is telling when trafficking migrants was the first thing Republicans thought of.

If the New York and Washington DC Mayors wanted to play this dirty game, which I don’t endorse, they would offer bus rides and hotel vouchers to “Abbott Country”.

IE…not Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio or El Paso. Conservative cities like Fort Worth, Amarillo, Lubbock, College Station. Conservative counties like Montgomery, Collin, Denton and Parker. The Woodlands, King Wood, and other wealthy exurbia bastions far away from the urban cities which are blue.

PS…Texas is like America, blue urban v red rural.

Each Abbott bus rider costs taxpayers $1400…Greyhound charges $199 to go from Austin to NYC.

This is nothing more than a political stunt, intended to stoke fear and hatred. This is the republicans’ only strategy. Inflame division and hate so they can ride it to power. Non white people, lgbtqi people, non rightwing Christian people and anyone who supports them are the enemies of the state. It’s getting people killed. This is fascism.

As long as New York gets the federal aid that Texas would have otherwise received for these immigrants, fine. If Texas is retaining the federal money for these immigrants, New York needs to sue them for the money they are illegitimately receiving.

I heard on the news that not all arrived in NYC or DC. Some said they did not want to go to either location and got off the bus somewhere else. Hope they did not get off to meet up with terrorist wingnuts.

The folks that abhor illegal immigrants seem to ignore the fact that our entire agriculture system is reliant on their cheap labor to grow, pick, and process our crops. They also slaughter our meat. If we really sealed the border we all would starve. Because big corporations are involved, even the Resputincons don’t blather about that part of immigration. I’m in favor of an “agricultural visa” that lets them work legally, and that law should also require employers to house and pay them humanely.

Also, those leaving Central America are overwhelmingly fleeing gangs and crime,, which has often been the result of our government policies and our collective appetite for recreational drugs. The loudest immigration complainers wouldn’t live in various neighborhoods in many cities for the same reason. They fled to the suburbs, so they didn’t need to cross the border. Where is the empathy?
