I’m ready for the orange mistake to be OVER. This is cartoon realistic, but so what? We’ve seen it over and over in several variants. Do something new, Ohman?
The FBI whose head, Christopher Wray, was appointed by Trump after he fired James Comey.
Such a raid on a former president would have required not only the signed approval of Merrick Garland, but also the submission of a warrant request specifying exactly what they were looking for, their basis for probable cause that it would reveal information relevant to past or ongoing crimes, and be approved NOT by a Trump-appointed FBI head or a Biden-appointed Attorney General, but a Federal Judge — both the executive and judicial branches.
We do not know what documents they recovered, but apparently all the walls at Mar-a-Lago are stained with ketchup.
Apparently the FBI didn’t call ahead to announce they were raiding Mar-A-Lardo. And they had the temerity to force a safe to be opened to examine the contents. Oh the horrors ….
There is a fun parallel developing between trump and Al Capone.
Capone, gangster, bootlegger, murderer, arsonist, and crime boss was taken down on the charge of tax evasion. All the crimes he committed, and he went to Alcatraz because of the white-collar crime of tax evasion.
Trump broke campaign finance laws; he has violated tax laws, and he instigated and led a violent insurrection against the United States for the purpose of nullifying the election and staying in office. During/because of the insurrection, lives were lost and property destroyed. He may never be charged with those crimes.
However, the crime of destroying Federal (classified) Documents may keep him from ever holding office again:
“Any custodian of a public record who “willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, falsifies, or destroys (any record) shall be fined not more than $2,000 or imprisoned not more than three years, or both; and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States.”
But what about Hunter laptop and Hillary’s emails.. surely the FBI’s time would be better spent investigating those flagrant acts. Afterall trump has shown himself to be an honest man and this surely is a mistake of overzealous assistants.
Just listen to Fox News if you want the truth on this unprecedented injustice.. Heck, they even dusted off Newt for his take.. /S
One more point. If other materials relating to other crimes are seen in the process of conducting a legal search warrant, they can also be gathered and turned over. The law school example is a search warrant of a house to look for drugs, and a bloody knife is found on the table.
Who knows what was in trump’s safe? But if it pertained to fake electors, January 6th, payoffs, etc., then that evidence could be in the hands of the Justice Department this morning.
I wonder how well trump slept last night…giggle, giggle.
How long ago has it been that the GQP was defending no knock warrants? The summer of 2020 tRump was sending uniformed goon squads to Portland and Milwaukee to drag people off the streets. Now he’s playing the victim? Given probable cause and a warrant, any law enforcement agency can break into anybodies home or business and conduct a search. And if said search finds the relevant materials, seize those materials as evidence. Tough stuff Donnie. Hire some more lawyers.

Mr Trump, head of the Republican party, got his home raided by the FBI today.
Something about stolen secret documents.
If Mr Trump is found guilty of destroying govt documents he can be barred from office.

So the FBI conducted a raid on Mar-a-Lago.

Those horrible-terrible Democrats want to defund the police. Not acceptable; crime will run rampant.
Wait, the FBI raided Trump?

Trump has a copy of the search warrant, if he makes a big deal out of the search he can just show everyone what the FBI was looking for.
