SKelley continues to use the RW meme to create fictional narrative to combat the fact that the RWSC overturning Roe V Wade, along with their other theocratic edits have destroyed the reputation of the Supreme Court.
Kelly is right about one thing. Here it is almost 23 years into the 21st century, and there are still 20th century fossils and their ideas in congress. We really need to vote in young and fresh 21st century people and ideas, so they can direct their 21st century future.
Republicans also have reps that have been there for years and years. Plus, I haven’t heard of any democrats that have said they would self impose term limits and then go back on their word. Mark Souder rings a hypocritical bell.
SKelley fails to acknowledge the third player in this farce, Congressional Republicans. Any honest Republican would be just as disapproving as the Democrats for recent SCOTUS decisions and the way that they were made.
Democrats see no problems crossing the line between disliking the Supreme Court’s rulings and physically attacking its Justices. Nor do they limit themselves to merely ignoring 18 USC §1507 with a nod and a wink from the DOJ. As when John Roske arrived to kill Brett Kavanaugh at his home armed with a Glock 17 semi-automatic pistol with two magazines and ammunition, a knife, a tactical chest rig, pepper spray, zip ties, a hammer, a screwdriver, nail punch, a crowbar, pistol light and duct tape. Enough with which to kill Kavanaugh’s family. To no one’s surprise, this event was completely suppressed by ABC, CBS, MSNBC, and NBC.
Remember when term limits was a key item in Newt’s “Contract with America”? Remember how short a time it took for that to disappear after Newt’s Republicans won control?
Congressional Democrats have actually been able to push some things through. I am actually satisfied by the job they are doing. Our current inflation is mostly driven by the 2017 “Trump” tax plan, and accelerated by Putins invasion of Ukraine.
Funny, up until now it has been my Republican friends screaming that congress needed term limits. As soon as a Democrat is for it, Republicans have to be for it.
Skelley DEFINITELY got the wrong label on that Cong. guy. Should be “Senate GOP” (in case you don’t already know). Because they’re who packed the out-of-step majority of the SuCCUS (Supreme Christian/Catholic Court of the US).
Rather than term limits on Congress, The President, and the Court, I would much rather see age limits passed as law. No one over the age of 70 should be allowed to serve.
I don’t think the Dems have a monopoly on the public’s contempt for Congress. @Stephen Runnels is right, throw all the bum out. Time for a generational investment in Congress.
Interestingly, the US is faring much better than most in GLOBAL inflation. But SCOTUS is unelected, and there are members who were rated as unqualified by the American Bar Association — members who should never have been nominated let alone approved by the rubber-stamp Republicans.
I like this one, honest, I would approve of term limits in both Congress and SCOTUS. When Federal Judges were given lifetime appointments their remaining life was like eight years. Now they live longer than the average life span of someone when the Constitution was written. There is no doubt in my mind, that at the time, lifetime appointments were an asset, now it is a real problem. I would even go for a single long term, like 16 years. It would be in the spirit of keeping the Justices Impartial. Don’t know how it would work if they got appointed to a higher bench, I guess you would have to reset the clock or something.

So true. Like 11% have trust in congress.

Apples vs oranges comparison. Recessions come and go. Laws interpreted by biased judges — appointed for life — are more enduring.

We are told that Justices simply call balls and strikes to establish what is Constitutional.
What simple calls are Congressional Democrats supposed to make to establish a sound economy?
Simple Kelly conveniently ignores global markets and the fact that no one controls them, including Congressional Republicans.

Exactly! Just think of how it would be to have term limits on Congress?

I love the fact Mr. Kelly thinks that the Democrats are the problem.

This is dumb. Members of Congress have to face an election every 2 to 6 years. SCOTUS judges are forever.
